Fingers crossed no drop outs. Read an article mentioning that Onosato went 11-0 against kotozakura in training but I know they don't train near full power. Still, even just half assing against kotozakura would take some doing. I haven't seen anything about Hoshoryu having trouble with his leg either.

How did they ever develop a language that it's impossible to tell how it's pronounced by the way it's written, because you pick and choose what sounds you want from each individual kanji
>>
>>266516
Last time the Chinese invaded they thought Japanese words were too long when written in kana so forced their writing system on top of it. And as the road to hell is paved with good intentions, it didn't work even slightly and we're left with the abomination that Japanese is today. At least they're using kana more with the ever-increasing number of loan words they taken from English, though as an English speaker you'll want to rake your eyeballs out encountering these words. My favourite is heart (haato). I had to read it three times before I got what they were trying to say, AND THE WORD WAS MEANT TO BE ENGLISH.

Unironically the dumbest language on the planet.
>>
Onosato is so mentally weak lmao. Luke Littler made the finals of the darts world championship at 16, then won it at 17 and 18. Just yesterday he won the world matchplay tournament for the second time in a row. He's retained that killer instinct for his entire professional career and shows no signs of slowing down.

Onosato meanwhile stopped caring about sumo after his last yusho. He's even said it in interviews, that he rocketed to the top so fast that he doesn't know how to keep up the momentum. Some fat shit from Warrington who had a beer belly at 16 is dunking on Onosato's "fighting spirit".
>>
>>266519
one guy is performing extreme conditioning on his physique and the other guy just gets pissed and throws pointy needles around. Like good for him but the only effort he needs is raw talent, he doesn't have to work out 6 times a week or power bulk for a decade.
>>
>>266520
The only thing Onosato is performing is a refusal to get shoulder surgery.
>>
>>266520
>or power bulk for a decade
And FYI, Onosato weighed 100kg at 10 years old, he really is just naturally huge, don't act like he put effort into that shit. Littler has been training in darts since he was 6 so it actually was a decade between then and his first major finish.

Onosato just has no fighting spirit anymore. Meanwhile Hoshoryu is using his title to feed fusens to Kirishima. Fucking gay.

Darts requires a powerful physique sculpted through years of downing pints and packets of pork scratchings. It takes more determination and physical discipline than sumo. Andy Fordham in his prime would heem Onosato in the dohyo.

Darts is also more spiritual than sumo.

The Dan glazing from them is crazy.
>>
>>266637
But it's not undeserved honestly.

>March
Broke a toe so couldn't perform
>May
Fucked up ankle prevented him from performing. The fact that he accepted his Ozeki demotion by not even trying to fight speaks volumes of his character
>July
Comes in with a dodgy ankle and rips a toenail out day 8 and STILL fights through it to take the yusho

Have we seen either Yokozuna fight through anything like that? Hoshoryu's Jan 25 yusho is the only thing that springs to mind, but even then it's only a situation he put himself in due to jobbing to Maegashira losers one too many times, he wasn't injured via misfortune.

I actually think the story of Yokozuna Dan would be better after the last few basho as it shows us what he's really made of. But holy fuck we need a yusho that isn't a 12-3 for once holy fuck.
>>
>>266638
The thing that worries me is that Aonishiki’s style isn’t exactly straightforward and if he’s getting injured at his young age those injuries will just start to compound.
>>
>>266639
His injuries are nothingburgers because they're happening by accident and are ones which will heal on their own fairly quickly. It's not like he's snapping ACLs or his spine is shitting discs out in every direction.
>>
>>266637
>>266638
I think we do gotta weigh the fact that his toe injury is a lot less serious than a ligament injury.
he also did worse in March than the Yokozuna did in January.

Hakkaku coming out and saying things later like that Aonishiki's stoicism fighting without complaint through his broken toe to the last day trying to stave off kadoban is something purely being said out of hindsight and not something that was appreciated at the time by JSA leadership.
I wouldn't doubt trying to balance weird with his toe fucked up contributed to his ankle injury, either.

Not to shit on Dan or anything though. As a fan I was thoroughly impressed with what he accomplished the past two weeks, I just can't stomach the way JSA and the Yokozuna council routinely manage to achieve both the most soulless praise and criticism of their top stars possible. I get it's something cultural they gained spending their best years circlejerking in a sweaty room full of fat guys, but I think they can show just a modicum less contempt for guys that are trying their hardest.
>>
>>266643
>he also did worse in March than the Yokozuna did in January
Dude he broke a toe day 4 when Churanoumi landed on it. Hoshoryu was for all intents and purposes not injured and Onosato still felt good enough to fight.

It really does just come down to fighting spirit at this point. If Onosato's shoulder really is back to normal then he went 9-6 because he was scared to use it. But that's not how it's supposed to go, he's supposed to be full throttling it like Fujinokawa every fight. Onosato has no fighting spirit, he's a coward who's scared of tarnishing his legacy and it's causing him to tarnish his legacy.

Hoshoryu should be demoted to Ozeki.
>But that's never happened before
Neither has this length of time from rope to yusho.

>>266650
How else can you talk about Hoshoryu at this point? Him giving his fusen to Kirishima was soft match fixing in plain sight. He's as much of a cunt as Asashoryu except can't win a cup.
>>
>>266651
stop shitting up the thread retard. were you crying like this too in aki 25 when Kotozakura went fusen to Onosato on day 14 after denying the yusho to Hoshoryu the day before? doubt it
>>
>>266652
Zak stood to gain nothing from that, but Hosh and Kiri are known good Mongolian friends and the win greatly benefit Kiri's rope run while Kiri is still the only Mong Ozeki to not rope. Considering how fucking abysmal Hosh's entire performance was I can't see any other reason why he'd wait until 7-6 before dropping out since it seems to be an MCL injury. His 4th loss came day 10 against Dan. Why wait until the day 14 Kiri match with an MCL injury when you can't even win the cup?

I actually dislike Hoshoryu at this point.
>>
Surely the fusen hurts Kirishima and makes his promotion claim much weaker than it would be if he beat him legit
>>
>>266653
>Zak has nothing to gain from seeing a fellow Jap dunk on the Mong who beat him to the Yokozuna bid he swore on his grandfathers grave he wouldn't lose
really now. I'm not saying he did that but if we're making shit up then we ought to properly do so.
>>
Someone should teach Umeyama how to throw. Right now all he tries to do is yorikiri and makes his fights harder then they should.
>>
>>266655
Zak had more reason to keep fighting at 9 wins than Hosh did at 5 losses. And that's before factoring in that Hosh apparently has an MCL injury.
>>
>>266657
Zak doesn't have any reason to keep fighting after KK
>>
>>266658
An Ozeki has more reason to want a 10-5 with no injuries than a Yokozuna has to want a 10-5 with a fucked ACL. Hosh held out so he could hand a fusen to his friend. Do you really think you're changing my mind with anything you post? Where do you think you are?

Oh wait shit, sorry, Hosh actually had his 6th loss locked in before the fusen. Blatant match fixing.

One of the fundamental aspects of sumo is building your “sumo body”. Injuries occur because they are taking short cuts. If they were doing 1000 shiko a day like Hakuho was they wouldn’t have these problems.

Its amazing how Dan has completely destroyed the careers of three yokozuna. Nobody has ever had anything like this kind of impact on sumo before, even when Hakuho made the top division it didn't completely knock the established yokozuna out of the box, Asashoryu was still the top dog for a long time after Hakuho appeared on the scene. Dan is an altogether different story, he hasn't even been in makuuchi two years and he has devastated the entire field.

Hosh would've won a zuna yusho by now if it wasn't for Dan standing in his way. Also you're wrong because the YDC said he needed a really strong July for them to even begin a conversation. 12JY 12Y is not a rope, though Oshima has said they're aware of his consistent great performances. 11-4 11-4 12-3 12-3 12-3 honestly looks better than anything Hosh or Sato have done as a zuna.

If Dan hadn't been there to beat kiriSHITma on day 13 then kiriSHITma would have a 12 win JY and 13 win Y and they would've had to promote him because they just promoted horseSHITryu on the same weak score.
