Asahifuji had a much higher peak than Konishiki did and the YDC still told him to fuck off until he actually put together two yusho in a row.And yes, the YDC were extremely strict after Kitao/Futahaguro embarrassed himself and retired. From his retirement until Kakuryu every yokozuna needed back-to-back yusho without exception.
