Tried nollies yesterday and got significantly better by treating them like fakie ollies in terms of anticipating when jumping out of a kicker.
Also got better at nose manuals.
Tried fs smiths on a straight ledge out of a kicker but sadly failed multiple times to land it.
I have now made it my goal to learn put in some effort and learn some basic tricks like that.
Noseslides and maybe kickflips on my list too.

how long does it take for the balance to come back? it's kind of demoralizing when your mind feels like it can do all the shit you remember, and you can somewhat, but you feel perpetually drunk while doing it. I also have this constant paranoia that I might have arthritis, and that all of this effort is in vain, not to mention if that is the case, it never would have happened if I wouldn't have quit skating.

it's funny how many of the older pro skaters that gen z worships are lame pieces of shit. the whole deathwish era is when it started to go downhill. those are the first guys I remember putting on demos, but showing up completely wasted, doing drugs in front of 5-year-olds, and shifting skate culture entirely to degeneracy and drug use. Antwuan Dixon even started a fight with a 15-year-old kid at my skatepark when he was shitfaced drunk, and everyone truck bashed his ass until they had to carry him out. there were like 2 guys on that team that were even sober enough to skate at the demo they put on. contrast that to when the adio team came a couple of years before that, all of those guys ripped and were respectful and down to earth. the whole dude weed era around 2010-2013 was a blight on skating.

I went to a Split clothing demo and one of the guys sat there with me and couple other kids teaching us how to 360 flip. It was awesome.

I remember exactly when Nike SB really took off. it was around 2008 when even small town skateshops started really carrying them, even the gay dunk hypebeast shit. Almost overnight, everyone was skating in dunks. I was a late adopter, and when I finally started skating dunks(went through about 3 pair alltogether, I was shocked that so many people kept skating them because they genuinely had some very big flaws that made them suck. on the good side, they had good padding without being too rigid and numb feeling, but the thing that made them shit was the grip pattern on the bottom. it was worse than 90% of actual core skate shoes. I remember on rainy days at school, you would have to be careful not to bust your ass when you went inside on the floors with wet shoes. this translated to skating too because it was harder to run up big banks with skatelite at the park. also, I was always a big ollie guy, and I actually had to tame my ollies or I would frequently shoot my front foot completely off the end of the board. not to mention like 75% of the colorways didn't even have suede, so you had even less grip with the faux leather shit. then at some point blazers became popular... boy oh boy, don;t even get me started on those. they skated better than dunks for sure due to most of them being suede, the bottom grip texture being different, but the hi tops were the most flimsy shit ever. I used to roll my fucking ankle all the time in those. I had one pair and said fuck that after, those are ankle breaking shoes for sure. dunks/sb in general were astroturfed onto the scene seemingly overnight and people just kept skating them forever despite thinking they were mediocre. many good skaters shared my opinion. unironically the best shoes I ever skated were circa al50. was back in the fat shoe days, but they were surprisingly light, and you could skate them right out of the box like they didn't need to be broken in. most were suede or canvas so crazy good grip.

Gifted hit the nail on the head with this one. I was surprised Sammaria called her last trick a blizzard/360º flip. Because Sammaria is ten times more technical than Nora. And yes, Nora did seem tired. She has a lot of style and is fun to watch and you never felt like she was shoved in your face, she was the final piece of the puzzle in Welcome, just 2 minutes before the whole thing went to shit. It's obvious Adidas IS trying to present her as a token of diversity, and the sad thing is she believed the hype around herself unfortunately.

When I look at zoomzoom era companies I just cringe. They all seem low-effort. Like some fake company a 12-year-old at the skatepark would have come up with. "Welcome." maybe if you'er not actually popping it and just doing that little beginner shuv it where you jump forward. tricks are easier moving because that's the natural way you sakte. you rarely spend time stationary on a skateboard once you get past beginner stage. plus, your board can now roll backwards and forward when you're stationary, which is more unpredictable. while rolling, the board is in a state of motion that is more static and predictable. think of trying to walk on a treadmill that keeps going forward and reverse randomly, stationary skateboard is the same unless you are on carpet or some shit.

why did you want softer wheels to skate normally? it's really hard to find anything that is truly a "softer hard wheel" I know spitfire has the 97 wheels, and I've never tried them, but reviews claim they feel no diffrent to a 99, or barely any different. one thing you can do is get a bigger diameter in the normal hard wheels. that also helps with rolling over rougher ground because of rolling resistance. if you skate 50s, try 54s. it's not a drastic diffrence in general but it does do enough to notice.

you could always try the formula 4 97a in 54-56mm. anything meant for soaking up vibration and being comfy is gonna be grippy. you have to powerslide a completely different way with those kinds of wheels. like downhill longboarders. then you just get flatspots. your best best for getting a bit better ride out of hard wheels is to go bigger diameter, but also bigger width. I HATE wide wheels for trick skating, and they are noticeably heavier even for ollies, but the extra contact pattch spreads out the weight thus helping with crusty terrain. you really have to settle with the cmpromises for a comfier ride.

it definitely is, but it also depends on your truck height. some trucks with a 56mm wheel are the same height off the ground as another truck with a 52mm wheel. when it comes to wide wheel styles like the radial full and conical full, they don't really hurt flip tricks/popping, but some grinds will be a bit different. they will ride over crusty pavement noticeably better than skinny wheels like classics. a bit harder to powerslide but still doable.it's more grip without being sticky grip. larger diameter also lasts longer too when you're buying expensive wheels. 56mm becomes 54mm eventually if you skate a lot.
