8-8.25 was probably the most common size around 2010. before that, 8 was considered big. I vividly remember when all the kids at the skatepark were switching over to 8 because lots of pros were. I stayed on 7.75 because I'm not a bandwagon hopper. I'm on 8 now in 2026. most people don't realize that one of the main reasons to go wider is shoe size. riding a 8 with size 12 shoes for example would feel like you're on a 2x4. with my size 9.5, 8 still feels fine to me. a wider board might be great for big ollies and such because of more griptape area, but I feel like if I tried a wider board it's hard to go back. you learn to properly utilize the grip area you have efficiently with a narrower board. I also love my 8 for transition, I dunno why everyone went to wide as boards for transition like you need it. I much prefer having narrower trucks for locking in.

I remember when I was a small kid in the early 2000s, I struggled with treflips. then I met a friend who skated a mini(element twig) and I could tre flip easily on it. that made me realize that kids SHOULD be skating minis and mids(are mids even a thing these days) until they are big enough to skate a full sized board. nobody ever seemed to do that except in the early 2000s. I knew 5 year olds who were skating 8"+ boards when they weighed like 40lbs. it's no wonder it took them so many years to be able to do a proper flip tricks.

I couldn't go back to a 7.5, maybe a 7.75 at smallest. the 8 flips perfectly for me. not too fast, not too slow. 8 is like the standard small size now it seems. I think the shorter wheelbase and overall length is what helped make tre flips on a mini so easy, not necessarily the width.

it's actually a pretty sick piece. it's supposed to simulate plenty of spots you would find irl donwtown areas. angled planters for example. lots of bump to manny tricks. wallride tricks. you will find lots of steep but short banks like that irl. they are much harder to skate for a beginer than a big bank because you have very little time to pop after you ride up it. it taches good board control and can accomodate very technical skating.

Went to the skatepark in Ulm with the new getup, geez I hadn't had a pair of trucks in a few years, plus the new bushings and wheels made for a very responsive skateboard with little wiggle, I was struggling to land ollies and remain straight. People assume that he's raising the bar in skateboarding, and that like others before him, everyone in the future will rise to his standard... but I feel like this is more than one of those instances. I ride the 93s, which are the original dragon formula. A little sticky at first on smooth concrete but once broken in they slide like a 99 and they get more slick the more you use them. Even better on asphalt too.

It's upsetting to see how shit things are now when I know how much better they were before.
I used to have an indoor park that was free for me and a bunch of other indoor/covered places to skate, and now there's nothing. Everything has been skatestopped, all the ground is shit unless you're on cruiser wheels, and all the indoor spots have either closed or been torn down. The nearest indoor is an hour away and costs $30 to get in.
The sole remaining place to skate safe from the elements has been taken over by psychotic homeless people because my city's worthless government protects them.

That was my one critique but I couldn't post on the move. I really enjoy a rap but these tracks are basically fighting the visuals the entire time. The first beat is low-energy. It gives the impression you're watching a sponsor-me tape for Nike and every possible metric is accounted for. The closing song was too clean, loud and confrontational (in all the wrong ways). I’ve had experiences where kids have zero regard for etiquette and don’t look where they’re going, and then when a collision inevitably happens the parent will get mad at the skaters.
