I make a living modelling avatars for furries on VRChat
>>1001487Who pays you?
>>1001489Presumably the furries
>>1001487What was your craziest commission?
>>1001487was it worth it?
How do you set up the lip syncing? Seems like thst would be the hardest part.
>>1001499I don't want to be a wagie slaving away for five days a week so yes. I'm a former NEET that isn't good for anything else. I would never tell anyone I know IRL that I do this for a living. I just tell them that I'm a freelance graphic designer (not a lie as I do have to market myself)>>1001498Making two avatars for a guy and his boyfriend for a virtual wedding>>1001503I use CATS in blender which auto generates the visemes for you. I make other shape keys like blinking by hand
>>1001487how do I commission you? I don't know any artists but I am in need of a custom model and would honestly trust a random /3/ anon
>>1001487how much would you take to model a basic pepe avatar?
>>1001487Show some of your work.>>1001648There are so many of these in VRC already, just go to an avatar search world.
>>1001487I hate myself for seeing this market coming literally a decade ago when the first new-gen VR headsets were being released and not being able to figure out how to capitalize on it. I even knew people who I told my predictions who were like, "Bet," and who've made thousands on avatar commissions, when I can't even get people to like my Twitter posts showing the models I've worked on for friends for free. Same dude once said, "I wish there were more 3D furry artists to take some of the commission load off me," like we hadn't chatted every day for years. Another was putting together a list of artists to send commissioners to, I posted my work, not even a reply. I would love to chat people up about techniques and stuff, no bites. This fandom doesn't miss a chance to let you down.
did you leak on kemono su by any means?many furries suffered losses because their HECCIN GOOD PATRONS ONLY stuff got leaked on there.
>>1001487god fucking DAMN IT i have the skills but i dont have the networking to do it, i cant get anyone>>1001679yes, thank you, i'm not just retarded
>>1001487Where do you suggest to start in order to make a VRChat avatar? I usually find shit made with blender but I am currently learning Maya instead, I'm studying animation but I would like to learn other stuff too, heard rigging is a bitch though
>>1001657most doesn't looked right to me. Doesn't capture the likeness
>>1001487I don’t really believe you. I think you are larping. Nobody on here knows how to rig.
I'm trying to extend the IK system I'm using for the rest of the body to fingers and facial expressions.
The hand has a Copy Position constraint and the fingers have a Copy Rotation constraint. This is not going to work if you try it in official Blender builds.
That's pretty scary, she looks to be I feel fantastic doll.
>>1001679I can't even afford a VR headset so i never really missed out on this lolBut yeah, i feel you. Makes me wonder how people even go so big, as an horribly antisocial retard myself networking is a near impossible task.
>>1001679I hate to state the obvious, but have you posted a commision sheet and everything? I get the impression that a lot of people, furries especially, don't like to cold approach for commisions, they just take their business to the people they know will say yes. Also, do you have a deviantart? I've had a few people send me messages asking to commision me (most likely for a render, not a full model, but still) despite me being extremely niche within my extreme niche and having no interest in comms. Maybe there are more people willing to commision people there? I doubt it, but it will at the very least spread your work to new clientele.
>>1003451> (most likely for a render, not a full modelwhat does this mean in simple terms, like adding accessories to an avatar or what?
>>1003616I mean that they were probably looking to pay me to do some modeling work and then render a scene for them, and didn't want to commission a model. I wouldn't know the exact details, our conversation was >hello, do you do commissions?>sorry to disappoint, but I am not currently accepting commissions.I just upload fetish porn to DA that primarily features furry characters, and I don't think they're a furry so I doubt they were interested in me making a model for them, especially given the time/quality ratio I was capable of at the time.
>>1003451I have a commission sheet for my 2D work, but not 3D. That and setting up a dA account is good advice, thanks.I'll admit that part of my issue is that I don't have super-high confidence in my work. Topology's kind of screwy and I have issues with rigging. Consistent output, too - sometimes I look at my models and wonder how I did them. I feel like I go into a trance and then I wake up a day or two later with a sculpt ready for retopo. But I'm pretty good about staying on-task when I know I have something to do that someone's paid me for, so I figured that part would take care of itself.
