Episode 3 is outNanoka becomes a murderer and joins a cult
Quite a bit less action this week compared to the previous episodes. The focus is more on developing the mystery angle instead, with a little more backstory for Mao and new questions about Nanoka's situation. Also, establishing that Nanoka is a bit dim.In other news, WcDonald's has been purged from existence.
They made Shiraha act a lot more wimpy than he did in the manga
>bili
this is... boring. I don't care about the lore, and most of all, I don't care about any of the characters. they're interactions are also boring. dropped.
I'll wait until anything other than Bili is out.
I wasn't expecting them to make Otoya's innards green
>>287540006h- he's made of jello...
>>287539821I mean, I won't blame you, it's a pretty slow and dry series. I personally find Nanoka relatable, though.
nice to see a thread that isn't retardingly early, third time was the charm after all :-)missed the live ep though and has anyone else been isekai'd to the east coast? why are all my timestamps here suddenly EDT
They ended the episode exactly where the first volume ends. Curious to see whether they'll do three episode per volume or stick to exactly three chapters per episode from now on.
>>287539554>In other news, WcDonald's has been purged from existence.NOOOOOOOOOO
>>287539447Nipple status?
I should keep track of all the times Nanoka faints over the course of the series (it happens a lot)
Pristine Nanoka.

If someone wanted to get into this would you recommend the manga instead?
>>287540649fuck off we're full
>>287540740>we're fullえ?
Comfy episode. I like that the series gets more unique identity with each episode away from being an Inuyasha copy.
>>287540740>>287540903forgot gif, gomen
>>287540649I love the manga, but I know a lot of people don't really care for it. So far the anime hasn't really deviated from it at all, so you're not missing anything, and Rumiko's art isn't at its best anymore, so it can be a bit dull visually. Of course a manga can be read faster than an episode can be watched, so you don't really have to get bogged down in the slower bits if you don't want to. And there are already a lot of chapters so you don't have to wait to get to the next bit.
>>287540932>Of course a manga can be read faster than an episode can be watchedI'm on a board full of speedreaders?!
>>287540954I'm quite sure you can read an average manga page in less than a minute, anon

>>287541473Inuyasha is bootleg Fire Tripper. MAO does end up standing on its own.
>>287541775It was still WcDonald's in the manga (well, Viz called it "Wagdonald's"). Then again that was like seven years ago.

>>287539447This is the first thread on this anime i have seen since it started airing. Guess its no inuyasha.
>>287542375We had one for the last two episodes too, but this was always going to be a more niche series.
>>287542375the previous episodes had threads too but retards kept making them early we managed to keep the threads going for more than a day though so I don't know where you were anon
>>287539447God, Nanoka's so cute.
Nice, big slash. They've been quite good about keeping the blood in the anime so far.
>>287540006Someone asked why Otoya had dead eyes in the first episode. So, now you know.
>>287539554Sad but expected. WcDonald's disappeared from Rumiko anime adaptions since Final Act.
I suppose they made this bit dark for atmospheric reasons (it was very visible in the manga), but they could have made it a *little* brighter. You can barely see what's happening.
>>287542582frightened girls are the best
>>287542757i think there's more blood on the floor than in the manga
>>287543044Yeah, I imagine some of it is to contrast the eyes. Admittedly, that panel always makes me laugh in the manga and they prob wanted to avoid that. It really is a cat caught stealing food.
>>287543258If they didn't want me to laugh they shouldn't have added that "mrrreeoww"
>>287540598Only man feet this time

>inuyasha but worseLMAO'dwhy is this bvitch still writing mango? sunrise wasted on this fucking garbo LMOAAAAAAAA
I suppose this isn't a bad place to add a little comedy.
>>287540303There are 26 episodes so at this rate they'd end somewhere in volume 9. There doesn't seem to be a good stopping point there, it's right around Kagari's introduction.
>>287543616Is this yaoi?
>>287543762They could always either stretch or shorten some of the later arcs. Hard to say at this point, though.
>>287543616I forgot how ugly the school uniform male pants are in this series.
>>287544155Yeah, I never thought about it before since you don't usually see them in color in the manga, but the plaid pattern doesn't really work for pants, does it?
>>287543762i've been saying a good stopping point is chapter 69-70the rest of volume 8 through 10 would make for kind of weak stopping points, it's not bad content it's just not a way to end a seasoni guess yurako's backstory could work?
>>287544283Yurako's backstory isn't impossible, but at the current rate you'd need 27 episodes just to get through all of volume 9. It's not impossible, but they'd have to really trim down some of the other parts.
>>287544071>>287540006scene after this doko

>>287544885Here you go
Another neat shot that wasn't in the manga, just to add some visual variety
>>287544989Oh thin Otoya. You could've been so stout.
>>287539447So far the only appeal this show has to me is my desire to keep Nanoka pregnant 24/7, she wouldn't spend a single minute of her life not being prengnat next to me.
>>287545533Keep your degenerate pregnancy fetish to yourself.

>>287545741>The little bird's greatis that a little dent on his head or a bald spot?
>>287539447the adaptation so far hasn't really captured the appeal of the manga yet...
>>287539821This show is comfy. I like comfy
>>287547033well then you (and mao) should enjoy it before we get back to stabbin' especially mao, because he's the one who'll be experiencing that stabbin'
>>287546232I'd assume he hit his noggin' and is getting that checked out
What the fuck why is it copying literally every single inuyasha plot point
>>287547713It's more like a reference than a real plot point. The scale of this series is measured in multiple years, Nanoka moves to high school relatively soon. They even reference covid going on for a bit, though I wonder if the anime will remove it.
>>287547783The anime still take place in 2019 since the flashback happened in 2011, so it's very possible I think.
>>287547783To be fair, it is also an actual plot point in the sense that it's part of what makes her question why grandpa is just okay with her disappearing for weeks on end.
So the waitress is just in on the investigation too?
>>287548115>The anime still take place in 2019 yeah that's sort of mentioned in episode 1 when the tv lady says "did you enjoy the long break?"2019 had an extra long golden week because of the new emperor
>only stupid assholes sit in this box
>>287548511She's basically an informant who always gives Mao hot tips about strange incidents
>>287548624I did figure she'd be reoccurring when they gave her a nameplate but no one actually said her name
>>287548540I see, thanks for the cool trivia. Regardless, it feels weird to see a Rumiko anime follow its original timeline since all previous adaptions were based on the year it aired instead. Like how Maison Ikkoku switched to 80s clothings instead of 70s, or Rinne switching to smartphones.
This seems like a bit of an oversight: In the manga, Mao isn't carrying his sword in these scenes. Rumiko's generally speaking pretty consistent about him keeping it wrapped up when in public, probably because as they off-handedly mention at one point, there was a ban on carrying swords at the time.
>>287549143>a ban on carrying swords at the time.>at the timei think it's still in effect lol
>>287548562streets are saying this lady has the same voice actor as sakura from rin-ne
>>287550067Seems like it, Marina Inoue
>>287539793>They made Shiraha act a lot more wimpy than he did in the mangaMy GOAT!!!
>>287550067Based. I always loved Marina Inoue and a key reason I love Sakura the most out of the all the main heroines. But it sucks that probably mean she won't voice more important characters for this series.
>>287544989teehee>>287545267we were so close to perfect...
>>287547713There are many things in the series that feel like Rumiko wanting to do some aspect of Inuyasha from a slightly different angleI would say Mao often feels like it has a more cynical mindset
>>287547713It doesn't come up much... Maybe she took some of the first impressions to heart because it stops resembling Inuyasha pretty quick.
This opening song really blows
>>287539793they're giving him something extra since this is the only season he's showing up in
How come nobody is trying to rape Nanoka in the past? She's basically going around naked.
>>287553916Because the Taisho era is more civilized than the Sengoku period.
I figured Mao was 魔王 prior to watching this, but now I'm assuming it's Chinese "マオ”, which is cat. Also holy fuck the male uniform is ugly, what are these pants?

I think this is my favorite new anime this season, it's so underrated.
>>287559629For once for such a character, he acts like his age.
>>287565870Yeah, that's one of the things I like about the series. Mao very much acts like an old man, especially as the story progresses. It's not a very typical dynamic for Rumiko's series.

>>287564682I wonder what it was about Inuyasha that destroyed Rumiko's reputation in the west. Nothing she's done since then has made any waves at all. Nobody's remotely interested.
