Dumping the new chapter(s) of Nekoguchi's new animal girl sports series that came out a couple days ago. When we last saw them, class E was about to face off against class A in a sporting match.
This is technically one of their school's periodic exams, but it's also open to the public. Attendants include fans of the athletes, journalists, and pro scouts. Nadeko and Shun are impressed by the amount of people for just a school event.
Celine's so nervous, she's overheating. But no time to rest, since the event's about to start.
The announcer is Sarifa's self-proclaimed least athletic person, but a big sports fan: Noelle the red panda.
Didn’t he have a manga about a witch?
Also commenting is instructor Louve. Her fans want autographs, but she tells them to get them at her office afterwards. Noelle asks her about the historical record of class E/class A matchups in the past two hundred years.
Spoilers: Class E has one precisely zero times. Hardly surprising, given that classes are assigned based on their performance at the entrance exams. But, this time class E has Nadeko, so Louve has high hopes for this match. And now, it's time for the contestants to enter.>>287546665That was just a oneshot. This series has been running for a few months now.
First up is Nicole the gazelle from class E, who's good at jumping but bad at running and throwing, and specializes in the long and high jumps. She's the eldest of her eight siblings, and since she's gotten good results since she was a kid, she already has a bunch of fans.
Next, Celine the gnu, a shy girl from the countryside. Pretty good at throwing, particularly the javelin. She's got a lot of potential, but can she make good of it? Nicole doesn't show it, but she's nervous too.
And lastly, class E's unproven newcomer, Usami Nadeko the rabbit. She's got good jumping and running ability, and specializes in short-distance running.
Her spunky entrance gives Nicole some reassurance, too. But their opponents are also watching, and don't seem too impressed.
Next is class A's turn, starting with In'yan the panda – An expert prop user with the air of a magician, or perhaps an assassin. She's very skilled at throwing, with no particular specialties within that category. Plus, she's a popular model.I forgot to mention but class E's team is called "Grass Eaters". Class A is called "Sarifa Tribe".
Celine thinks In'yan is cool, In'yan thinks Celine stinks of potatoes. Next, Butch the hyena, exceling at all jumping sports – a hunter who always surpasses her opponent, but *just by little*.
She's apparently also childhood friends with Nicole. :)
Next, two others who don't get full pages for themselves: Clara the coyote, an all-rounder who never skips her training, and Florence the husky, an exchange student from a northern land specializing in long-distance running and hurdles. And last but not least...
A girl who beats her opponents so bad, she seems like the guardian of the underworld, thus earning the nickname "Hades" (or more literally "dark ruler"): Dante Sarifa the black panther, great at everything, but particularly great at sprinting.
She's most likely going to be Nadeko's opponent, but Nadeko doesn't seem intimidated. After all, she's finally gotten the chance to be back on the field with Shun and their new allies.
Also, Mauma tries to make an entrance despite her injuries and gets scolded by Nicole. And the last member of class E is still at a bar somewhere. And the event starts with the throwing athletes being called forth.
>>287547087Oh, sorry, just athletes, I'm thinking ahead. Let the battle between class E's "Grass Eaters" and class A's "Sarifa Tribe" begin!
Onto chapter 7. The first randomly selected sport is javelin throwing.
Naturally, it's a match between In'yan and Celine.
Nicole explains that she came up with their team's name and logo. They're all herbivores, right? Luckily, the others like it, so Shun doesn't press the matter any further.
In'yan is a famous model and fashion icon, and decides to do a little demonstration before the match.
She tosses some of her fans TO her fans. Now that's what I call fan service.
Next is Celine's turn, and... she falls on her face. But what's this? It looks like someone's there to see her.
Her parents came to see her match from the countryside. They brought her some potato manju and a good-luck plushie, even though Celine says she can't eat fried foods right now.
In'yan comes to gloat at her for smelling like potatoes and also being fat.
Time to start. In'yan goes first.
She takes an interesting stance.
She begins to move...
...and spins! Look at it go.
Shun exposits that this kind of technique has unofficially exceeded the current world record by a big margin, but is currently banned in our world due to safety concerns. In'yan's throw measures at 69 meters.
That's better than the current Japanese recordholder. But that's nothing: Celine regularly throws better than that at practice.
However...
Oof. The spectators erupt into laugher.
Unfortunately, Celine never manages to live up to it in an actual competition. That's all for this month. Not a bad development I'd say, good to have some psychological stuff and not just technique-related improvements from the protagonists.
Some Nadeko sketches.
