I keep thinking about it but I feel like even if it was executed well. Megumi was bound to be universally hated as his character arc was that he was Powerscalers' biggest wet dream only to find out Megumi intentionally never wanted to be the strongest or top 3 in the verse and chose to live like a loser. People just didn't like when a character doesn't win at anything even if the ingredients are all there.

I don't get it. I just read JJK recently and I liked Megumi. Is the problem that he didn't complete a character arc? Because none of the characters did, Gege doesn't care about stuff like that. He's not a storyteller, he cares more about realism. It doesn't make sense that a bunch of 16-year olds would realize their dreams and meet their potential in 6 months. But Kenjaku and Sukuna were attacking now, so they had to act now.Megumi was strong, he soloed a special grade curse and an incarnated sorcerer. He tried to save his sister and failed so fell into depression but Yuji saved him from Sukuna like he did for him back at the detention center. That's a perfectly fine way for the story to go. It's not like he could've helped much to resist Sukuna, Yuji was bred for it, other characters can't just do that.Did people want him to bust out of Sukuna himself and with ki bursting out of him and go, "It's over for you, Sukuna, because you hurt my friends"? This isn't Dragon Ball slop.

Maru felt like a weird attempt on a what if scenario of Yuji and Sukuna being twins at the same time except the Yuji in question has a schizo personality. Likewise. Tsurugi felt like a fixed attempt of Megumi's issues but he came across as really boring as he really was the generic stoic older brother
