Riki is an awful main character. I don't care if the point is supposed to be kind of what-if the side character was a main character instead of someone like Kyousuke, he's just awful and boring. Hairi is much more inline with Yuuichi and Tomoya, and I think that's why I much prefer SP to LB.

LB is a coming-of-age story at its core for both Riki and Rin. Riki starts off as a child compared to his peers, but with each world reset, he becomes more competent and independent so that others would rely on him instead of the other way around. Hence why Riki saving Kyousuke was so moving.

Tangentially related, one of the reasons why the post-Refrain routes are good is that they rely on a matured Riki.
