But the issue with Omega isn't that the fighting got more unrealistic it's that it got less mechanically cohesive. Everything Kiryu does back in Ashura is more unrealistic than anything that happens in Omega and some of the worst Omega characters do nothing but basic bitch martial arts techniques. The difference is when Kiryu did his moves they had specific strengths and weaknesses and fit in the setting. In Omega it just becomes vague one-upmanship.If anything I'd argue the lack of characters like Hanafusa and Bando who were pure freaks or even guys like Karo or Gozo who had whacky backstories is what makes the Omega cast stand out less.As for the actual choreography, the issue is that Sandro is just stuck on doing one-sided thrashings where one guy is in the driving seat for the entire fight until a sudden reversal at the end or a sudden reversal that doesn't work out. The editor having less time (he didn't leave he just oversees more manga) probably contributed to that.It should be noted that Sandro had a pretty solid idea of what he wanted to do in Ashura even before they changed a lot, whereas in Omega he's clearly working week to week at some points, which has to take a toll on the fights themselves.
