>>287715751I'm honestly really liking NGO, and I’ve been watching Shibou Yuugi after having heard of it in the NGO threads, and while it's not as good, I've still been enjoying it and I genuinely like it on an audiovisual level.People call these shows pretentious, but from my experience they're a thousand percent more approachable and enjoyable than actual art house films. Like Goddard’s "Le Mépris" was playing in a cinema the other day so I decided to check it out and it was incredibly boring, the only redeemable feature was the Paparazzi short that played before it. People say Goddard’s a huge inspiration on SHAFT, but honestly I simply don't understand what the overlapping appeal would be between that film and a SHAFT anime. I mean I guess the shots of the Odyssey film are kind of aesthetically similar cuts with objects on a colored background that you see in certain shaft anime? (I can see similarities paparazzi short and SHAFT though, but that wasn't even directed by Goddard).
