Not sure if more of an /a/ or /int/ question, but why are they called the 5 consecutive hairpins? There are only 4 that actually look consecutive, and if you include the adjacent turn, which isn't even really adjacent since there's a slight curve, it feels silly to not include the other hairpin right next to it, so they'd be 6.

It's called 4 hairpin turns in Japanese
here's some Japanese dude in 2005 talking about driving through it. He says it's called "5 hairpin turn" in the show, but there's only 4 hairpins (or 6 if you count the two afterwards)

I guess the 6th turn isn't hairpin enough to count as a hairpin? And the 5th turn is close enough to count as consecutive? I dunno.
