The disaster curses are so worthless and wasted, it's embarrassing. These are the only powerful villain curses of note. Hanami? Got one good fight against Yuji and Todo, then gets killed by Gojo. Fine, whatever. Dagon? Looks like a nice time to give Megumi, Nanami and Maki a good fight. Nope. Toji wank. Jogo? It'll be so cool to see his philosophy about curses being the true humans clash with some of the heroes. Actually fuck that, Sukuna wank. Necessary or not, Mahito not being finished off by Yuji is unsatisfying as fuck, just to add insult to injury.

JJK was an AWFUL shounen. It tends to get a pass unjustly simply because KnY was even worse. But just because KnY was EMBARRASSINGLY bad shouldn’t mean anyone should give JJK the time of day ever. I’ll only say that in the earlier part of the manga the Disaster Curses were cool, and it was always POSSIBLE to do something cool with them and their power system. So, like KnY it’s only “good” insofar as the ideas and characters are promising.

Technically, Mahito should have ended Yuji many times over, but only didn’t because of plot. If Mahito was to be killed off, it should have been via Yuji — but again, was not because of plot (wanting to lazily reuse Mahito’s power set at a later date). The only way to “like” any of this is to build your own headcanon version of events and pretend the manga version didn’t happen.

Also in regard to the Disaster Curses, everyone wanted in vain for them to do anything but job or take out a few side-characters. Like, imagine being a Jogo fan and just when it seemed like he was building up to a real fight, not just another job, THAT happens instead.
