Why there's not a push to design a mazegaki system in japan that uses 100-200 kanjis in total instead of 1850 like the current system?

Kanji don't really fit their language at all. They could get rid of everything except the number kanji, and even dump one of their two phonetic alphabets, and manage just fine.

they don't even need the number kanji, it's overwhelmingly common to just use numerals.
