It has become a vehicle for putting the characters in pin up poses. I don't mind that, but the story has seriously suffered to re writes. It went from dragon ball z to dragon ball gt. You could cut out everything post martial arts tournament and you would have a 10/10 manga.

Shounens boil down to two different kinds: arena battle shounens and bug spectacle shounens. OPM is the later, but ONE is capable of adding some arena elements into the webcomic where Murata is not. We see ONE’s ability to include arena fights in Mob Psycho as well. If we ignore arena vs spectacle issues, ONE is the best shounen writer Japan has, and it’s frankly not even close.

Eyeshield was good, because it was a sports manga that approached the sport with the intensity of a battle manga, from a mangaka that had the chops to draw battles. He's still great at anatomy and fundamental skills.

They clearly have different ideas for the project, Murata's affinity for spectacles being one facet of them. Of course, the scaled-up fights are mostly well received and it was not until around 2019 when Murata's more questionable choices become apparent.
