What was the point of this scene anyway?

There's a lot of humiliating moments for him in shippuden but this isn't one of them.
I don't like how criminals get a free pass if they're friends with someone important. Yes it's realistic, but fictional stories should be teaching good morals.

>>281859238Kishimoto's morals are that the nation-state matters over all and all grievances are pebbles before it. The post-war Konoha has no problem integrating Sasuke, Orochimaru and Kabuto. If Obito had somehow survived the war he would have been vouched for by Naruto and Kakashi and probably be given an apartment and reinstated as a leaf shinobi after having Sasuke use Izanami on him with one of those spare sharingan just to be safe.

He's always been kind of an obsessive nutcase like this, he just got older. But him grasping that his old friend has now made enemies of multiple nations and they're sending out hitmen to murder and dismember him, and this is both the legal and morally correct thing to do is hitting him hard. How can you save someone who used to be a cool dude, but is now determined to drag themselves straight down to hell?
