Why is modern Dragon Ball so lame and toothless? One of the bigger examples is how they made Bardock and Broly so neutered. Saiyans in-general, really. Broly went from a depiction of a pure, psychopathic, brutal, savage Super Saiyan of legend, to some gay le gentle-giant Tarzan character.

Toriyama wanted to end the series after the 1st volume.
Everything else is improvisation and starting with the Saiyan saga I think he just got pissed off working on it.

Anime in general has been "modernized" in a lot of cases to appeal to a wider audience of pathetic cucks who cry about being offended by everything. Dragon Ball in particular has a lot of stuff in its earliest form that has been deemed "offensive" now, like Roshi, Mr. Popo, etc. From what I understand that isn't as prevalent in Japan, but the majority of DB's modern fanbase is western. Super also aired in a block that designated it as a Saturday morning cartoon with an age target of 6-12.
The manga is much more in like with how the series used to be, but unfortunately Toyotaro fucking sucks and can't draw for shit.

They made Broly a character meant to fit into a wider universe rather than a really buff Super Saiyan design someone got really hyped over, forcing them to bring him back twice, with even less going on up there each time.
