I don't think I have ever hated and loved a show so much in all my time watching animeI binged the whole thing and by the end I was so numb to most of what was happening due to absolutely despising the main character Saki for being one of the most reactive uninteresting characters I ahd ever seen. she just cruises along and lets everyone die for her in order for her to see the end. the only time where she doesn't let this happen she burns the anthrax needed to kill the """fiend""" leading to a gamble that could have ended killing everyone involved and she still had to sacrifice kiroumaru to do so. yes he was willing to die for the cause but so was satorou which she refused to elt die due to her own feelings getting in the waythe other thing is that this show loves to shove the same point over and over again as if I am a toddler who can't understand what the show has already been directly or indirectly to me multiple timesdue to my lack of emotional response because of these issues a lot of it was instead pulled into my subconscious which sounds genius but I don't think it was intentionalnow I am filled with existential dread...
sounds like your issues would be solved if you just read the novel instead
