Hunter x hunter is over lol
At least one Heil-Ly member has to kill a Prince, this feels like a Chekov's Gun waiting to be fired. The question I have, is which member, and which Prince? I feel the members with the most narrative likelihood are Morena herself, and Borksen. As for the Princes, I would say the mafia princes are similarly the most likely targets. Zhang Lei has left Tier 1, and Luzurus likely did the same, though he's also the target of an assassination plot (if you assume Melody and Kacho aren't playing Kaiser). I think there's another Prince worth considering though, and that's Benjamin. In this current circumstance, there are three options for him. One, he succumbs to the poison. Two, he gets cured, whether you subscribe to the Zodiac or the Tubeppa theory. Three, he gets killed. Since Benjamin is hunting for the missing Princes, it seems unlikely he'll actually make his way back up to Tier 1, he seems intent on going after the higher ranking, missing, Princes. He's going to be slowly weakening the whole time, to the point anyone might be able to kill him. This leads me to think that Borksen may come across a half-dead Benjamin, and out of fear of being targeted by Heil-Ly, kill him when he's already practically dead. Any other combination of kills for her to gain a Nen ability would require her to kill 2 people, at least. A Prince allows her to get her hands dirty once, and suddenly become a real threat. I think there's a nonzero chance she comes across a half-asleep Luzurus and similarly gets an easy kill.
>>281877484Let’s see if Togashi can close all these plot and character arcs (like 50 of them minimum, just looking at notable characters), in a satisfying way.We haven’t even seen Machi in what feels like a decade.

Sunk cost fallacy-induced schizophrenia is the only reason a single soul cares that this series exists anymore. Just admit it. >>281884036Togahsi is doing this because the series will sell 500k per volume due to dedicated die hards, and so He can write whatever he wants without drastic editor influence. Togashi is seemingly keeping himself “challenged “ to keep him motivated to not retire - which is probably why he wanted to make the most introduced characters in a single arc that surpasses Tsubasas largest character amount arc, to be the most in Shonen history. Doesn’t matter if it’s to the detriment of the story, Togashi wanted the challenge and he wasn’t gonna back off it. >>281886258The difference between late YYH and current Hunter is that Togashi straight up got sick of YYH and wanted it to end. Because he can stop working on Hunter whenever he wants, the pressure isn’t the same.Togashi’s much more likely to never finish than to finish Hunter. >>281889473It’s not hard for me to remember big plot points, but little shit, I don’t remember, and most of it isn’t important to remember. Advanced Manipulator TechniquesMind Control Mastery: Manipulators have a whole toolkit of mind-bending techniques:Soliciting: The subtle art of persuasion. Why force when one can convince? Rewriting memories is just the tip of the iceberg here.Coercive: Total domination, mind and body. It's not just mind control; it's life control.Pseudo-coercive: When one can't control the mind, control the situation. It's like setting up a maze with only one exit – their way.Diffusive Induction: The crowd-pleaser. Weak coercion, but on a massive scale. Perfect for swaying emotions and creating instant fan clubs.Conditional Manipulation: The more ridiculous the condition, the more powerful the control. It's like making a deal with the universe, and the universe always pays up.Self-Manipulation: Who says you can't be your own puppet master? Some Manipulators turn their skills inward, becoming their own personal upgrade system.Nen Type Fusion: Mixing Manipulation with other Nen types is where things get really spicy. Imagine controlling someone from a distance (hello, Emission) or creating and then manipulating objects.Aura Node Manipulation: For the truly advanced, messing with someone's aura nodes is like hacking their spiritual firewall. It's a high-risk, high-reward space. If Illumi has less aura than Uvogin, will the Nen ability still be an instant win or turn into a semi-pseudo-coercive?
Benjamin is not entitled to a single win.

>>281894408>If Illumi has less aura than Uvogin, will the Nen ability still be an instant win or turn into a semi-pseudo-coercive?Nothing so far suggests that aura quantity correlates to the degree of manipulation. All that matters is the affinity the user has with manipulation, the method of application of aura to the target, and the intentions of the user. There is also aura defense if the attack requires some physical component as well as the FCFS rule about controlling an already manipulated target. So no matter the difference in aura. If a manipulator gets their conditions off their ability will activate unless FCFS is in effect. The only thing that matters in Uvogin vs Illumi is whether Illumi could pierce Uvo's aura and get a needle in his skin.

>>281889473You don't remember what happened in stories you read 2 years ago? I remember what happens in Naruto and that manga ended over a decade ago. It's also three times as long. Do you not remember what happens in Yorknew or the Chimera Ant Arc? Those are older than the current arc.>>281890179Incredibly low IQ post. People don't read stories for their endings. The ending of a story is its own thing. Hunter x Hunter is full of stories: every chapter, every scene, every story arc, every character arc is its own story, and that's what people are reading. One Piece and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure are the same. They can end tomorrow, they could've ended 20 years ago, they can never end - it doesn't matter. To think it does is to exhibit a massive misunderstanding of how stories work. But even that doesn't explain everything, because I'm still referring to stories, but manga is about more than stories. People like Hunter x Hunter for its cinematic moments and detailed power system. If the next chapter introduced a new character with a cool ability and Togashi showed it off in an artistic way, everyone would be excited - not because the story is coming closer to an ending (it's doing the opposite), but because he came up with an interesting ability and created something artistically satisfying. The plot can go fuck itself, this isn't a novel. You also make one more logical mistake that every Hunter x Hunter shitposter in particular loves making, which is the idea of investment. Who's "wasting their time" waiting for new chapters? Are we sitting in a lobby or something? Nobody "waits" for new chapters, they go to work, hang out with friends, exercise, read other manga, play video games, shitpost on 4chan - and all of this is time they're "waiting" for a new chapter. What exactly is the problem here? There isn't one. When a new chapter comes out, they'll read it. Until then, they'll go do the things they always do. Nobody's wasting time on anything. What a retard.
>>281898071Uvo has been dead for years by this point and Illumi wouldn't have enough needles for that many people. He probably has a soft cap for a dozen needlemen given the requirement to charge those tools. And his normal needles don't seem to be able to do more than force someone to talk.

>>281900654I actually read Mindhunter this year, the semi-autobiography of John Douglas, the man the press called America's Sherlock Holmes, helping catch dozens of serial killers, and he is the principal figure responsible for the concept of criminal profiling and the formation of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit. He never had any aspirations of being part of law enforcement. He was a jock in high school and flunked out of college because he fooled around too much and didn't have any long-term career plans. He got recruited into the military because he felt like he had to do something with his life, but he spent the entire time teaching deployed soldiers' wives and kids how to swim and boxed recreationally. He talked a lot to others about his interest in psychology and how he had a knack for reading others, and through sheer social connections, got an offer to join the FBI. He helped with various bank robberies and hostage situations before he was able to spread his ideas up through the chain of command about his interest in creating some kind of scientific unit for profiling criminals and it turned out some guys were already doing something like this, but it was flaky and nobody took it seriously. He and another guy got sent across the country to help with some crime and he noticed that a prison with a famous serial killer was nearby, so arranged an interview with the guy to see if they could learn anything about how criminals' think from him. This was fruitful and so on the way home they hit up several prisons and interviewed high profile criminals. His ideas were mocked at first, but he blew everyone's minds when he accurately described the Trailside Killer in 1981. He told a room of police officers his age, size, home situation, car model and that he'd have a noticeable stutter, and they all thought he was crazy, but it all turned out to be accurate. He and his men examined thousands of criminals and put themselves in their shoes.Furykov reminds me of that.

I can't remember if Kurapika thinks this, but Furykov thought the SM user was one of the people taking the Nen classes. I'd have to go back and reread everything, but maybe Furykov just didn't realize Oito's lack of men was due to SM. I personally don't see why the user has to be in the room, readers assume it's true because Togashi had a character say it.>For some reason Furykov thought it was Longhi.Because there were four "secret Nen users" in the room. One was the chick SM followed into the room and two were Halkenburg's men who got feathered. It didn't make sense for the SM user to draw attention to their own ability, so it couldn't be the girl who brought it into the room, and Halkenburg's men looked like genuine newbs who had no idea why they were already awakened. This left the fourth secret Nen user: Longhi. The second to last batch ended with Longhi declaring herself as already being a Nen user to Kurapika so even a lot of fans thought she was the SM user and must've said some seriously fucking crazy shit to Kurapika to get him to make a deal with her, but it turns out that wasn't the case.So now Furykov doesn't know what's going on. He thinks the SM user must be in the room, but he doesn't think anyone could hide already knowing Nen from him (or Kurapika). Personally, I don't think the SM user ever needed to be in the room, I think the user attaches it to someone and they're the one who brings it places.
>>281905246It's also worth pointing out that only the person who SM has attached to can see it. Everyone else can only see the snakes. From the perspective of everyone in the room, Loberry or whatever her name was had her aura pores opened somehow, she yelled about someone being in the room, and this distraction allowed a bunch of snakes to attack someone else. The snakes are conjured by the assassin, but no one really gets what was going on with Loberry. She seems to have been manipulated somehow. Furykov and Kurapika probably think the snake-conjurer-assassin manipulated Loberry to speak some nonsense to distract everyone and that's why her pores were opened. When in reality, she wasn't manipulated or speaking nonsense at all, the assassin attaches a doll to someone and conjures the snakes through it. As the reader, we can see this, but the characters can't. Togashi has even let us hear the user's thoughts. They're trying to unravel a complex power with limited information. What I will say is that while I do enjoy stuff like this, Togashi doesn't usually allow his series to have that level of misinformation. Hunter x Hunter characters are notorious for always somehow being Sherlock Holmes tier deductionists. This is just maybe an example of that kind of confident big brain thinking backfiring on the characters. For example, if you existed in the Hunter x Hunter world, wouldn't you constantly be filled with doubts over whether you understood others' Nen abilities? You don't know what's going on. What if the SM user is actually two people: a guy who conjures snakes and a guy who can turn him invisible? No character will ever consider that possibility and Togashi only ever has characters offer it as a solution if he's thought of a semi-clever way of debunking it. But we see character logic fail all the time and it's hard to say if its the characters just not being as smart as they think they are or Togashi being an inconsistent writer.
>>281905246>>281905445It would ruin the fun of the audience solving the mystery if the premise becomes “oh the user wasn’t in the room”. No one would be able to pinpoint the exact person, in that case, which ruins one of the fundamentals of a good msystery. The user being outside the room would be some Nisioisin shit
>>281905758>>281905445>>281905246Continued. I agree that Togashi will have some “switcharoo” or “pull the curtains moment” with the mastery, but I think it’ll be that there’s a 5th nen user that Furykov couldn’t tell
>>2819052461.By the conventions of the mystery genre, the user has to be in the room.2.The user has an inner monologue when he notices Furykov's taunt, before activating the ability.3.The user is seeing everything that is happening in the room.4.The ability's condition is that the attack rebounds to him if it fails, so the user has to be right there. The user is 100% in the room.
>>281905246His king is out here dying of diarrhea to death and he still thinking about the SM user

>>281905273Needs rape correction
>>281905806>>281906059I understand what you're saying, but you are aware the user was 100% NOT in the room during the original killings, right? Was it just "not a mystery" yet at that point?
>>281899988I'd love to hear the reasoning why it isn't Belerainte in everyone's mind already. The only thing that was wrong with him as a suspect before this batch was his motive as a random hunter who shouldn't care about the succession war didn't match with the motive for the killer. But after the Beyond and Pariston secret prince agenda reveal his motive as an agent of theirs fits with Silent Majority's behavior. He helps Kurapika keep the nen classes going sure, but that makes a lot of sense when you consider he's being given a perfect space to kill participants who might be potential Beyond sacrifices.
>>281906342This guy still might be Hisoka in disguise
If it wasn't for the speech patterns people brought up, I still think Oito would be a good option. Furykov hasn't seen her, and thus she would better be able to feign not being a Nen user. I don't expect it to be something like Beyond using the ability through her body or something either, since surely that would have been noticed by any Nen user.

>>281906661Hisoka wishes but she does look great in that hat

What subgenre/backdrop would a hypothetical Gyro arc have? Hunter exam was classic adventure Shonen test, hevanes arena was classic battle Shonen, greed island was pseudo isekai video game rpg, Yorknew was Shonen crime thriller, CA was the alien invasion war, election arc was more light hearted political Shonen, succession war and DC we know.I can’t imagine where Togashi could go in a Gyro arc
>>281907532A proper war thriller arc, we got something like that in parts of the Chimera Arc but this time it would be human in nature. Even though Gyro is an ant now lol
Can someone explain why Togashi only follows the batch model? I feel like there’d be less pressure if he could just drop a chapter whenever he wants. Now everytime he wants to come back he has to finish almost a whole volume before any content. Togashi could finish up to 418 and then go on hiatus for 3 years, but because he didn’t do the last 2 we won’t get it until he comes back. I bet if Togashi could just shock drop chapters we’d have gotten a few during the 4 year hiatus.
>>281907590I agree. I also think we could get a kingdom building section Following Gyro. Kind of like what those isekai do except much better written.
>>281907634He could but he won’t. His back can only take so much work after all so better to work and release all at once than work and work and work a little at a time and then forget what you were writing.
>>281907634Probably he believes that reading the arc in a weekly/volume format, even if segmented, is better than any alternative structure. Gives a nice amount of new stuff to chew on while we wait for new chapters.
>>281907773It's probably also easier on him to draw a batch of chapters at once so he remembers all the plotlines and characters he's got going on.If you just drop a chapter every now and then they might lack coherence.
>>281907013...me on the left
It's pretty insane how useful the Zoldyck family poison immunity is in this series. In most other battle shonen poison is kind of rare but it's fucking everywhere in HxH. Even in the first arc of the story three different characters use poison. Ben's hours away from shitting his brains out because of poison that Illumi or Killua could casually tank without a problem.

>>281909618I see the references, but I don't see how it's her. Yuri is a maid for Kacho, the same Kacho who immediately tried to wriggle out of the succession war not actually fight it. Silent Majority uses Kacho's other maid as the target for the ability which freaks her out and gets her thrown out of the room. So even if you skip Kacho and move up to her mother Seiko as the one who ordered the Silent Majority attacks it doesn't don't line up because the attacker undermines her daughter's personnel.

Is that just inexplicable Nen nonsense? The characters in the story think Halkenburg did something when "Shikaku" killed himself and doing it after ringing the doorbell was to distract the room from whatever it was. The rumbling happens whenever he shoots an arrow.>Melody is not a keikaku type characterBut she's already botched one plan and this one's even more retarded. We pretty much know for certain Fugetsu wasn't attacked by Luzurus's GSB and Kacho's deduction that it was him was a little silly. Togashi also wrote the sequence in a strange way. He had Kacho explain her reasoning to Melody while she was in a cell, but then had the two of them bring the idea to Kaiser and when he agreed to do it, he drew a panel of both of them just staring at him silently. It would be very Togashi-like for him to have the first scene in a room without Kaiser because he wanted them to talk about something without him hearing it, then skipping the second half of the conversation so we don't realize they're actually plotting against him.

>>281910413I didn't start reading Hunter x Hunter until right before the palace invasion so I can't speak on Komugi and I don't remember posting on /a/ until after the 2011 anime began (the Internet was full of anime fan forums back then and /a/ was vehemently anti-shounen). I do remember fans groaning about Welfin and Ikalgo, though.People are honestly saying a lot of stupid shit about this arc and it makes me wonder how accurate fans were back in the day at predicting the relevance of characters or length of arcs. I've never been interested in that stuff so I just ignore it, but I don't remember people saying shit like "these characters aren't important" or "the arc's close to wrapping up" and shit like that before. Like, ever. When Meruem was walking around dying of poison, people still didn't know when the arc was going to actually end. Nowadays it feels like everyone just knows somehow. What I can say is that every single batch of this arc has had a minority of anons saying, "We're finally reaching the climax of the arc," and, "Togashi has finished introducing all the characters, now it's time for shit to hit the fan!" And every single time. Every. Single. Time. Without fail. They've been wrong. I do wonder if it gets depressing, being consistently wrong batch after batch.
>>281878441it's super obvious that bork is going to use her nen ability to give her friends their own nen abilities especially after hearing morena's explanation.
>>281912463... she's charismatic for the fact that all her friends (also high ranking soldiers) all consider her to be their leader and depend on her so much that they basically forced her to come down to the lower levels to help them.

>>281912463If you define charisma as the ability to make others like you (or otherwise emotionally manipulate them to your ends), then how many Specialists in the manga are actually charismatic? Chrollo and Morena are. Perhaps Tserriednich is to people who don't actually know him, but the people who actually know him are terrified of him. Everyone fucking hates Neon and Meleoron's entire personality is about being perfectly ignorable. Leol has followers, but that's due to rank, Hina immediately forgets about him after he dies. Also, does anyone like Hina? Alluka is a cute kid, but everyone's trying to kill him. Does Pakunoda strike you as particularly charismatic? How about Renko? We see nothing to suggest Pitou has any real relationships with anyone. So how good are you feeling about this "charismatic" thing? You could describe charisma a different way, though. You could describe it as strictly popularity/likability, and if you do so, you'll find that studies find this is literally just extroversion. Are the Specialists in our story highly extroverted? Actually, most of them are, but not more than what's normal for the manga, and our biggest Specialist (Chrollo) is not.Hisoka doesn't know what he's talking about.
chrollo is a bum
>>281912122One of them a male
>>281912614But the reason Morena gave her Nen is because she's looking for a Specialist, and the reason she's looking for a Specialist is because she wants them to wish for an ability that a non-Specialist couldn't create, and Morena already has the ability to give other people abilities, so why would it be that? She also can't return to her friends without them shooting her. Those were the rules.

>>281912905The rumbling also began before he died. Also, I wouldn't call the ability "dispelled." Both Sumidori and Shikaku were transferred to Sumidori's body, remember? When one body dies, the two souls end up sharing a body.

Say, he gets ahold of Phinks, Feitan tries blitzing him, and he accidentally kills Phinks due to that.

She doesn't need Bork's friends to have Nen abilities - these are her new friends.>>281914347It wasn't random, it's not up to you to say what does or doesn't matter, and the importance of the scene wouldn't change just because it was between different characters. >>281919438>bet it could have had some actual use, having a bunch of tools on hand could very much be useful, but he wasn’t the right guy to make the best use out of it.The power still sucks because he's just conjuring normal tools with no quirks or extra powers added to it. We got told this early on by Izunavi but conjurers doing this is just a waste. What I would do with this power is create a fixed number of weapons and give each one a specific ability. Sort of like a bootleg version of Kite's crazy slots but without the RNG and obviously less powerful. So say the Axe can use the blood it draws to heal my own wounds faster. Or the hammer's weight increases the more it's swung. >>281919417It helps that we see that Morena is still actively coaching them on appropriate abilities. But I do hope that we see another dumb power from at least one other member. It is overall good that they are at least competent on their group synergy because that makes them dangerous in a way the Chimera Ants weren't despite also manifesting abilities almost overnight in some cases. Really looking forward to what the Pigeon-hater crew will do now that they are all levelled up. They already had powers before but I wanna see if their confidence is justified.
