The arc was a bit too long and fight full for my tastes, but I still enjoy the manga even with iv feed of lore. And I actually find it interesting to see where Kuramori plans to take the Altus/Arcos plot. Maybe he had different ideas in the beginning when the manga was in danger of early cancellation, but now that we are past the one year anni, he should have plenty of breathing room to do as he wants to. Final villains and rivals established early is a good trope.

We're kinda in the middle of an Elstri arc of the King saga. Most of this stuff seems to be pretty important but I don't expect it to be dealt with anytime soon.

From the get-go, Arkos coming back was delivered as impossible. But he still came back. Anything could have happened but ultimately nothing happened at all.

The problems largely lay with zombie Arkos blowing up the situation way out of hand. I really would've preferred a cleaner end to all this, but they seem really intent on keeping Elstri and the zombie alive. Almost makes me wonder if they're gonna do some whole redemption arc for Altus where he's constantly fighting his inner Arkos.

It needs to be criticized. The battle should have ended three chapters ago, Altus should have died and the covenant of witches shouldn't be the covenant of jobbers. Art is top notch like before, but i can't enjoy the manga if author is not aware of consequences and pulls out "he awakened his hidden power" card

It would have objectively been the wrong decision to explain the Diana subplot now instead of later when it can be more relevant. Giving readers information of what will happen and then just going "next arc" is a blue ball, and obviously you can't just rush into her arc considering even with faster aging she's visibly much older in the prophecy

I wouldn't. It was a massive moment with the witches finally revealed, and the cool imagery with the wolves howling, signaling some big pivotal turn in this rather stagnated battle. A perfect moment to take the story in a different direction. Instead it just reverted back to battle shonen and now the witches aren't some mysterious entities but a bunch of jobbers, running any intrigue for the future Diana developments.

What? Lukas is acting on his own to get Diana in order to kill the Supreme Lord. That's his whole deal. The question with Orthrus is why he's defying the Supreme Lord's direct command.

I consider his weekly pacing to be a strength. Despite people saying that this assassination raid (that we've building up for quite some time) is starting to drag, it only feels that way because everything before went by relatively quick.
Also, he has a good sense for money shots and character designs (with some misses in there).
However, it's starting to become apparent that he is writing by his whims and some plot points/lore are being retroactively shoehorned in the loose plot. Another flaw that's up to debate is that the fights ... are not really exciting to me.
They rarely use strategy that's above surface-level because the opponents are so stupid, and especially Julian is just a bulldozer that somehow learned martial arts (Who taught him? I wish one of his innate slaves was once a combat master and is teaching him but we know they can only talk to each other when they "die").
The reveals during the fights are what's hype, like Lukas' ablities or new lore, not the fights themselves.

And in regards to the lost respect, I really really don't like it when authors fold to audience wishes and Scorpon Lady being recruited after EVERYONE yearned for her just screams bending the knee to me.
If Angvalls death wasn't set in stone so early, I feel like he would've changed his mind. I mean, he still can bring her back when I look at Arkos. I can see Helem trying to make a deal with Julian and offer reviving Angvall but Julian will decline it, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Arkos most likely kept his feelings for Zira a secret. Some people must have known he was having sex with her, but not how much he cared about her. Helem is amused and excited because this is prime juicy gossip and blackmail material. It's a weakness she can use against Arkos if he comes back and something she can hold over his mom's head. The queen may or may not know her precious prince loved a powerless pleb, but she sure wouldn't want this bit of information to become widely known, riiight, your Majesty?
Also, Helem really likes it when people follow their hearts against all rules and common sense, and this was a nice example of that.
