It was so good, even better than the original series until the third movie where it went to shit and ended with a dumb cliche normie ending. I really wanted Gendo to win and him to reunite with Yui or the The Human Instrumentality Project to succeed because all the other characters besides Shinji and Ayanami turned into try hard assholes and just seemed angry the entire time to extend their shitty human race while not realizing they were being saved by those superior god like beings. I tried rewatching the original anime since 20 years ago but the animation and artwork seem really outdated now. They need to rebuild it again with the original ideas of the first series where everyone basically meets their maker.
