i tried reading the manga when it came out, art and premise seemed solid for an edgy shonen, but the story and characters were boring to me. thought it might be more palatable in anime format, but dropped it for the same reasons. is anyone here for the plot? i can see teenage readers/watchers sticking around for the sexy emo character designs but there's not much else to it than that

Hopefully this gets more seasons. I checked the Oricon top 50 best-selling manga of 2024 list (which the information was only released 4 months ago), and it failed to reach the top 50. That is not a good sign. Manga like Kagurabachi, Kindergarten Wars and Gokurakugai all made it on there, but Gachiakuta didn't. Gachiakuta is a weekly manga too, so it releases 5 volumes a year, and still failed to sell enough volumes to make it in to the top 50.
