He was. His new stuff is kind of hit and miss. Mari started strong but just got dumb. Chi no Wadachi had a similar problem. It dragged on and just became stupid. The vampire one was alright. The guy clearly has some mental issues he just wants to write about. I preferred when they were more restrained and just flavoured the plot rather than being the entire plot.
