It's the odd case in PSG of something being played entirely straight, with no ironic premise or subversion, unlike something like the Ghost of Daten City that starts with something typically PSG like the disgusting incel ghost and develops it into something actually genuine. If you drag something from the start as transparent and simple as Pet Cemetery Hill it ends up being sappy and becomes what some people have already accused it of being, cheap tearbait.
