>start with a mystery
>solves nothing
IT'S SO HECKING DEEP
>>
>start with a premise
>resolve nothing
this is every anime ever
>>
>romance anime
>no actual closure to the relationship
I get they have to milk their content for the money, but I am sitting on a graveyard of single season romance shows that had inconclusive endings that will never be picked up again

If you couldn't figure out what Lain, Eva, and Umineko were going on about, you're probably retarded.
Like, Umineko outright tells you the solution to everything outside the individual murders.

Sony boy solved everything that mattered,
Evangelion isn't even a mystery per se

>Sony boy

>everything outside the thing
The core mysteries of Umineko are
>The Epitaph
>Where is the gold/Does the gold exist
>Who is the culprit
>Who/What is Beatrice
>The mechanics behind the mystery
And then at the bottom is "How were the crimes accomplished", something you can figure out for yourself very easily. The other five are all answered within the narrative.
I imagine this is because Umineko's murder mysteries aren't exactly difficult. Here is a scenario from Episode 1
>Kanon and Genji discover a locked room which Kanon opens to discover the bodies before anyone else gets there
This should immediately tell you that Kanon and Genji are the culprits. If Episode 2 didn't make it clear to you that Kanon and Shannon are the same person, then Episode 6 outright telling you they are solves that.
The only murders that would be difficult would be the episode 5 ones, but episode 7 also answers that.

It's a baseball league here in the world of Monkey Mountain,
played by the great monkeys, which started when the first ball and bat
and the rules of the game were handed down to them.
In the Monkey League, a number of great players arose
from among the nameless monkeys,
whose faces and appearances all looked the same.
They included the legendary home run king,
who batted an unprecedented, record-breaking
80 home runs in one year, Steroid Monkey;
the one who bested the god of batting, Monkey River's career batting average
by two thousandths, the miracle hitting machine, Upper Monkey;
the greatest catcher of the Bigfoot era, Mister Monkey;
later, as manager, he would go on to break the record for most league wins,
with a legendary ten-season-long streak!
Then came the golden age of the M-League.
A miracle monkey came along
and shattered those previous legends one by one--
the monster, Monkey Blue!
This maverick of the league was the only one with blue hair,
who, despite weathering ugly discrimination and crafty persecution,
triumphed over them with overwhelming talent, ultimately becoming a hero,
and a symbol of hope for the monkeys!
Although a rookie, Blue put the brakes to the king, Steroid Monkey!
Breaking his bat as well as his heart, Blue drove him to retirement.
Then, with his mighty pitching arm,
Blue led the underdog team Monkey and Club to victory,
preventing Bigfoot's championship streak from reaching 11.
The public accepted this new hair color,
and there was no doubt in anybody's mind
that the era of Monkey Blue had begun! But then...
...that great tragedy, when a near-perfect game was foiled,
and a monkey was killed, took place!

You're correct when it comes to Lain but not Evangelion. Eva makes sense once you think about it. Lain is just pretentious.
>>
>>281912394
i only watched the original pre-EoE run of Eva and i just found out that anno is a hack and i fucking hate watching his bullshit.
