I had thought the story had grown out of the more juvenile aspects and finally settled down to tell a proper dungeon crawling adventure story. Eventually it began to grow on me. I didn't get spoiled so the twist was interesting and going back to check showed it was hinted at a few times. Ryuu got to complete her character arc so that was nice but the fight with Ottarl dragged on too long.
