Why the fuck does it have teeth?The damage control made it even funnier, they had to release a manga and a short because Asuka's and Midori's characters weren't fleshed out enough and in the latter's case she simply wasn't sympathetic, or rather, empathetic.Anno going from "all interpretations are valid" to "noooo, not that one" because he made Mari too blatantly similar to his wife is the funniest self own yet. It isn't just the character design, Mari calls Shinji "Wanko-kun"(wan is the onomatopoeia for a dog's bark, localized as "puppy") and in an NHK documentary Moyoco(his wife for those that don't know) calls Anno a puppy. It's painfully obvious Mari represents Moyoco's kinder side.
