What was your first non-toonami/cable/tv anime/manga experience? My parents showed me stuff like Legendary Brave Da Garn in 1996 Korean dub lol. Do I count as an old head?
Renting Ranma 1/2 on VHS from the local video store.
>>281931086It was spur of the moment thing between getting the Keroro Gunso manga, or a Fist of the North Star VHS from my local video stroreEither way, it was one of those two that compelled to look for more anime on my own online.
>>281931850>>281931965What year?
Ninja Scroll. God bless that slacker working the register at Hollywood video that didn't care enough to see the NOT FOR KIDS sticker on the case
>>281931974Here>>281931965 It was probably around 2007, my family didn't even have internet until a few years pior, which limited my reach and it took a few years of exploring to see the wider world of anime and manga for myself.
>>281931086Princess Nine. I was a huge baseball fan as well as a budding anime fan, and when I learned about an anime about cute girls playing baseball, I knew I wanted to watch it. I have no recollection of how 12-year-old me managed to figure out how torrents worked, but I downloaded the whole series and watched it as my first subbed anime and my first pirated anime.
>>281931086I looked up Pokemon raws and watched things like the banned episodes, Raikou special and late gen 2-early gen 3 anime after learning that it was a Japanese show with episodes that never got dubbed. Dragon Ball was the first manga I read, and Chobits was the first subbed anime I watched.
>>281931086Probably my older brothers showing me Speed Racer on VHS.
