Longevity and high volume sales are the actual indicator of success. Large numbers of manga artists atay in obscuritiy and rely on business connections to keep their art going. Kaz was a manga artist for a long time but all of his works failed to go past one shots or limited series before yugioh. Even his friend in the industry noted his works never sold well.
