It does the whole "boy winds up in a fantasy world" thing, but generally everything is shitty and bleak, without ever feeling edgy. Maybe its because there are young characters being confronted with mature things. It's a good show too.

Tex is legitimately dark because it's oppressive psychologically to the point it's hard to watch.Even with the Eclipse I never felt so mentally exhausted and exalted after watching. Narutaru. I really really wish this series got a full modern adaptation that somehow manages to keep most or all of the content in tact. I think it's a legitimately great manga as well but it's definitely got a lot of fucked up stuff in it. And it also doesn't pull a happy ending out of its ass like so many other series.
