nah, i think it's just how the dude originally wanted the protagonist to be proto-Momo. Editor-kun was the one who forced Okurun.usually it goes the other way. other shounen mangaka are forced to add girls in by their Editor-kun. like Gaygay or Kishi were distressed at how they had to add girls to their mangeese. also they basically shove the girls in to a closet and try their best to never have to use them.
