Is he right?
>>282031295Yes. This is why you stick a pencil though a folded paper instead of writing a dissertation.
>>282031295No, it's gatekeeping and gatekeeping is always good
Sure. Understanding your audience requires conventional intelligence. If you're actually trying to convey information you need to speak on a level they'll connect with. If you want to bully them out of the conversation you intentionally "sound smarter" than the conversation demands. That doesn't make you smart, just a prick. But none of this has to do with being knowledgeable. There's two kinds of smart. You don't need to be a good teacher to be top of your field. This is probably some soapboxy shonen moment however.
>>282031295No because you can bait schizo esls into turbo meltdowns if you use enough fancy words
No. It's obviously stupid to knowingly use words the other party doesn't understand, but cleverness is (roughly speaking) independent of ability to communicate. If you trapped a smart guy in a completely isolated room for a week they'd still be a smart guy in the time they were unable to communicate with anyone else for a week.
>>282031295Yes, it's why all those scientists you see in various media that speak technobabble are the dumb writers' attempt at sounding smart. After all, if the if the audience is confused, that MUST mean that the writer is smart.
>>282031947I didn't understand a word of that. You must be really stupid
>>282031295Yes, there is times that giving a long lecture can easily be replace by just calling the other person a faggot
Yes, also I really like this manga so far.
Eh, it could just be a matter of lacking thoughtfulness. There could be a term you use on a daily basis, but all of a sudden you have to make a presentation for people who aren’t in the same field or don’t do the exact same work, and you accidentally use a bunch of lingo they aren’t familiar with. You could say it was a dumb moment, but it doesn’t automatically make them dumb.
A smart person that isn't explicitly in some parts of the education sector knows that it's impossible to know the full extent of somebody's else vocabulary, a smart person also knows that other people's lack of literacy isn't their responsibility unless again, they're part of the education sector.
>>282031295
Yes
>>282031947>technobabbleI don't know that word. WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID?!
>>282031295Not particularly. If you lack social awareness or not that great at speaking, it's easy to accidentally use terminology or words others might not understand. Being socially awkward around others is not a sign of being unintelligent. That said, this is also a panel from some manga, so whatever.
>>282031295This is so stupid. What if a foreigner who's really fucking smart talked to you in his language and you two couldn't understand each other, would that make him an idiot? Hell no.Now, if the smart guy WANTS to convince/explain something to someone dumber but doesn't manage to extrapolate a simplified version to get it across then yeah, maybe they aren't THAT smart. Either that, or they don't really understand what they're talking about, which again could be another sign of them not being very smart.
Is she right?
Intelligence is the ability to dumb ideas down. All the oldest wisdom and philosophy is dialogues, diatribes, metaphors, stories, etc. Even words are a distillation of this logic, smart people were needed to maintain and officiate language.
>>282036733>What if a foreigner who's really fucking smart talked to you in his language and you two couldn't understand each other, would that make him an idiot? Hell no.If he knows you can't understand him, but talks at you anyway, then he's obviously a fucking moron. Even really young children understand the concept of a language barrier and will rely on miming or symbols where words fail. What a genuinely stupid example that only proves the point.
>>282038045>Intelligence is the ability to dumb ideas down.It is not. Nuclear reactors do not work because of dumbing ideas down.
>>282037740well genetically they could be similar to you especially in older countries, and you may have even been relatives in the distant past, or not even counting that you could just look at the fact your parents had similar goals that led them to similar places that might the children more compataible than just actual random selection of everyone on the planet vs you
>>282038045>Intelligence is the ability to dumb ideas down.holy shit no it isn't
>>282038045>Intelligence is the ability to dumb ideas down.that's journalism
I love Yotaro. He's a fun retard.
>>282038138Yes they do lmao.>we need to process this chemical and get it to produce steam for our generators, lets break down and perfect the individual steps required to achieve this, then apportion the task to specific people with their own set of broken down and then collected ideasIntelligence is just project, risk and resource management on a very granular scale.
>>282039248Whoever figured what chemical to process was the most intelligent person there
