Final part of the "QA Tester" job.
We begin with Charlie asking the girls how they're doing, if they're feeling pain anywhere or had parts of their bodies disappear. The girls are confused, but he pushes through, saying "you used the "Freezing" function, correct?"They react strangely, but he takes that as a yes.
He congratulates them for their and the app's success. There'll be more tests, but with this, he has also successfully formed a hypothesis.Again he brings up the Freezing function, asking if they had any issues with it, but they fake ignorance in the most conspicuous way.
Flashback to the ramen shop. The picture Hama showed was one she took when the chef's face had turned into a cat's, but it seems she didn't get the timing right. He says they can stop now, and brings up how his cat had died recently.
His cat, Chashao-chan (Chinese for the roasted pork fillet typically used in ramen), was a calico cat, just like his transformed face. Yume adds that she doesn't get a bad feeling from it either.
Her words give the chef the impression that she's a medium of some sort, and Hama adds to that by saying she's nicknamed the "Evil Spirit - Dismemberment Woman", but the chef has a knee-jerk reaction to the first part, saying that his cat could never be an evil spirit, and if he's really possessed, he'd rather remain that way instead of being exorcised.
Nothing bad has happened to him or his shop, in fact, it's the opposite, he's gotten much more clientele, and has even been successful in his horse race bets (RIP Yagi). They both agree that the thing that stunk couldn't have been the cat ghost.
So yes, they didn't use the third function.Back to the present, Charlie explains what we learned last chapter: that the Freezing function might have affected the user instead of the target.
Then he gets to his hypothesis. Since Ver 3 was successful, it's possible Ver 2 wasn't as bad as Ver 1 too. Then he brings up a familiar concept: "The spirits of the dead repeat the action they did while alive."
He believes that Tatsuya actually died during the texting and the QR code simply made it so his spirit became bound to Earth.
More specifically, it did Freeze him, but not completely, he keeps leaking out into the real world to repeat his Gray work.
Charlie wonders why Gray jobs in particular, conjecturing it must've been the most important thing to him. All the while, Hama has flashbacks to her conversation with the factory workers about how he worked so much all for his daughter.
This causes her to scream at Charlie, telling him to do something about it. That it's their fault he's like that, and now they have to turn him back to normal.
Debora suddenly comes in to rebuke her, saying this is all speculation, and if she wants the truth, she should just ask the man himself.
Then she drops the bomb: her disease can be traced back to Q, and it is the root of everything bad that happened to her. That's not to say she's at fault, because the one truly responsible is...
Yayoi Kokuryou. She's going to tell them everything just so they join forces to give her a good, final scare.
We get a flashback from Charlie's perspective. It turns out that not only does Debora know more than he does, she suggested using this job as a test to see if the girls are worth bringing over to their side. But in the end, he didn't learn anything about Kurumi-chan.
She screams: "Don't you fuck with me! Get me out of hereee!!"They used her as a base for their AI, although that probably couldn't be called an AI. It's much more inteligent than any mere AI.
They didn't waste a single part of Kurumi-chan. If only he could know how to mass produce not-AI like her. Also, they paid for the ramen the girl's ate. That's it for now. Next chapter on Friday again.

So, summary of what we know;>Q has the ability to 'Freeze' Grays to entrap and seal them away>this tech possibly made an error with Tatsuya, Hama's dad, who might (might) have died during a Gray job and had his spirit partially frozen - causing him to endlessly repeat his Gray work>Freezing is possibly based on Q taking people(?) and forcing them into being the basis for some type of quasi-AI>it turns out that Yayoi is the source of the disease that Hama has and has been this whole time, being the source of every bad thing that has happened to her
I will URA

>>282035786I think so.
>>282037721Corrections:>Q is researching "Freezing (a.k.a. sealing)" Grays, but it has been unsuccessful every time.>The tech has affected the user instead of the target, including Tatsuya, who may have died during testing and become a half-Frozen ghost that endlessly works Gray jobs>Kurumi is another Frozen tester, but she became the base for the app's (pseudo?)AI
>>282043437Thanks for the corrections. Still, it seems Q is admittedly coming closer and closer to figuring out how to properly Freeze Grays.
