As you get older you realize this is the best feature length anime film and it's not even close
>>

NGE is my anime cause i dont need subtitles i dont like watching shows for europeans (cowboybebop not included)
>>
>>282044541
Thanks for the take Sen kun, but I don't think this was made for europeans at all, even with the fascist italy backdrop
>>
As you get older you stop caring about which one of anything is best unless you're some retarded spic that applies their brain dead soccer mentality to everything.
>>
>>282044580
Im not hating i just dont like how much european dick miyazaki takes its annoying
>>
>>282044644
As you get older you realize that saying something is the best is, and always was, a matter of personal taste. And that is a natural exercise to have with art.

Exactly, Miyazaki-san ;_;

I always think of his quote
>When a man becomes middle-aged, he becomes a pig.
>>
>>282044497
>the best Miyazaki feature length anime film and it's not even close
FTFY.
>>
>>282044497
As you get older you realize caring about "getting older" is for faggots who still haven't internalized their own validation
>>
>>282045234
nice psychobabble
>>
>>282045234
It's not validation it's desperation. That's the theme of the film, too. When you get older you'll understand...

I know he’s a meme on /a/ but Miyazaki is so fucking based he’s in a complete league of his own.
>>
Just watched it yeah not to shabby

It was this film that sold me on the idea that Miyazaki really didn't care all that much for aviation, he only had a passing interest in it thanks to his dad plus whatever WW2 nostalgia he had. No true love for aviation in that film.

Miyazaki doesn't even have a pilot's license. Direct evidence he doesn't really give a fuck about flying.

Anyway, that film can never be great to me because it was not made with any proper passion.
>>
Porco Rosso has been my favorite Miyazaki film for over 15 years. The atmosphere of the setting is incredible. The plot is pure manly machismo with just a dash of romance. Before I die I want to travel around the Adriatic by sea plane.
>>
Why does no one here like Totoro? I don't really like ranking films, but but my top 3 by Miyazaki would probably be something like Cagliostro, Totoro, and Kiki.
>>
>>282045637
Because Totoro is too popular.
>>
>>282045363
This makes me seethe, it's not proper terrain following flight. Dude would have crashed doing that shit, completely unable to see what was under him. Proper technique looks even crazier and cooler. Not to mention that old boat would never have been able to do fighter tier shit.

>Anyway, that film can never be great to me because it was not made with any proper passion.

The result is what matters. You are missing out on so much great art (not just anime) with that point of view.
>>
>>282045637
SOL. That takes a certain mentality to appreciate, so a lot of people, well, don't get it. But even though I do, I would never rate SOL content as high art/media. SOL is essentially landscape paintings/photos. Great to look at, but won't be winning you art awards anytime soon and shit writers can't write think pieces on them.

The best thing about aging is smoking tobacco properly
>>
>>282045637
I love Totoro
>>
>>282045716
I've seen the film. It was underwhelming. Maybe I need to give it a re-watch as an oldfag, but the original watch did not leave me impressed.
>>
>>282045343
Thanks, I got my degree from Miyazaki
>>
>>282044497
meh

>>282044497
Overhyped piece of shit show
>people hype about the fascist quote
>wasnt about fascism
>>
>>282044497
It's Miyazaki's self insert film. Oshii and Anno love shitting on it.
>>
>>282048865
Oh, that explains why he doesn't like talking about it.

it was my favorite even when I was younger
>>

Cartoons don't have to be 100% realistic.
>>
>>282044497
I've never loved the aesthetics of an anime more than this one. They go out of their way to make the protagonist unattractive, but that's half the charm.
>>
>>282044497
I think it's certainly Miyazaki's best film, but I'd say it has some pretty stiff competition from Whisper of the Heart and Grave of the Fireflies for best of all time.
>>
>>282044497
I really need to watch this
>>
>>282044644
soccer mentality is based
>>
>>282045671
>that old boat would never have been able to do fighter tier shit.
you may have a look at what constructions did dogfights in WW1, anon. You'll be surprised.
>>
>>282044497
Not even the best Ghibli movie when Castle in the Sky exists.
>>
>>282044497
Porco Rosso used to be my fav Miyazaki film, but The Wind Rises just barely beats it for me.
Love them both so much.
