Most people can’t read, can’t draw, or come up with good ideas at all. They would especially fail if they had to do all that and more on a limited schedule. The only thing that would really assist your point is an extra arc before the chunin exams or the Sasuke retrieval arc to have more focus on their relationship. Honestly, their relationship makes more sense than Deku and Bakugou. It’s funny that despite Kishi writing them as a potential fag tier friendship, he can draw sexy women and make a few of them competent despite his alleged misogyny.

The idea of a brother figure is used multiple times as the mental model for how Naruto characterizes his friendship with Sasuke, he imagines that it's what it's like to have a brother. This should be examined for the delusion it is.Sasuke is now instead open and up front about all of the shit with Itachi from the get go. He is not cagey about the info, and in fact probably uses every chance he gets to claim he's going to get revenge for his clan and kill his brother.Naruto now understands Sasuke's situation earlier, and they can speed run to actually having a friendship before the Sasuke retrieval arc happens.
