I normally don't care for dubs but I started watching the engdub for this along with the engsub. It's quite nice. Rewatching the earlier episodes helps with the knowledge from future episodes, and also the Bri'ish VAs are great.

In the novel Klein just turned himself into a ghost while already physically in the house (or was that just a poor translation?). That seemed rather dumb to me. Having him only enter as a spirit body made much more sense, so that was a great donghua fix. But more importantly, what most people overlooked, is the hidden implication of that scene. It showed the 0-08 influence right before Klein started the investigation of the house. Ince probably wrote something like "Klein Moretti investigates Madam Sharon's home, but it's a reasonable development for her to return early. It's also a reasonable development for Klein to sweat in tension and for a falling drop of his sweat to alarm Madam Sharon about his presence behind the curtain. Then she reveals him and kills him easily." But then the above text is partially crossed out and replaced with "for some inexplicable unreasonable reason Madam Sharon could not find Klein behind the curtain." This was a scene showing how the grey fog is one of the few things that can resist the influence of 0-08. Ince tried to kill off Klein via Madam Sharon, but failed. That's why Klein was at first in his physical form doing the investigation and not in spirit form. It was not faking Klein's appearance to fool the audience, the whole scene with Klein being physically present in the house was just what the scenario written by Ince using 0-08 is. If you as a novel reader couldn't figure that out, you don't possess the qualification to evaluate the donghua as an adaptation. The novel is easy mode that spoon-feeds everything. The donghua actually requires the ability to interpret subtle clues.
I don't think 1 more episode is saving this show.The vibes are cool. But the character and plot are bad.
