For example I had to drop Grill Our Love because the husband was such a huge sissy I didn't enjoy any part with him in it. I expext the same is true in reverse and guess many female characters in male written manga are ulikable to women. I think this is truest is generic stories where characters often fit into an archetype and generally lack unique character. I'd also say that both male and female authors often fail to adequately explore, or even actually write reasons for, why the characters love each other. I think they miss the point when they fail to do that because it's such a strong way to show depth of feeling and genuineness.

Women care more about doing this, in shoujo the female protagonists have the same relevance as the male interests and are made to be as appealing as them, a good part is dedicated to her life and personal relationships, etc....Even in romance shonen written by women it is the same case, Blue Box and Kaoru hana at least try to make you care about the male MC and their friends.
