MC stumbles upon a cryptid, actually manages to 1v1 it and then gets recruited into a budding new government agency that investigates paranormal and weird shit.Said agency is its infancy, basically just a side project that on the verge of being closed because higher ups don't really seem to believe it is needed at all. Absolute bare minimum, just a skeleton crew composed of outcasts, deadbeats and those who are inconvenient in inner politics, all assigned to one rundown base.Case by case agency slowly starts connecting th dots, from weirdly spontaneous cryptid appearances, to cults getting bolder, to strange paramilitary groups getting involved, eventually graduating into actual deep conspiracies and aliens and real weird shit.The narrative revolves around not just actual investigations but also interpersonal relationships and how MC deals with the unsavory realities of being a cool government agent, from having to lie to accepting that people he befriended today may end up having their brains blown out tomorrow and he would have to carry on unflinching.Overall the story takes place over at least two years, with intermittent timeskips when another chapter of investigation is complete, so to speak. As agency collects more exotic stuff, they research it and expand their arsenal of tools, weapons and technologies. They get better funding, more people, and more enemies. Basically there is a clear progression of both characters and the entire setting from normal stuff to sci-fi and esoteric tech, and MC changes from just s normal human in a fancy suit to cyborg in armor and with plasma gun. The world goes from mundane modernity to pseudo futuristic mishmash of weird tech. This also highlights another theme - insanely fast spread of advanced tech and how the world irrevocably changes, often not for the better, just because some people poked their noses too insistently.MC does get married in the end.

Each fantasy race has its own country and stuff.MC is starting university and moves to a dorm where many international students from all races live.Story starts off as comedy/slice of life as the characters work out their differences and show their world view, it drops bits of world-building.Eventually an international conflict starts developing and the students get affected by it.Plot develops not so much in a "group of students saves the world!" silly thing but more in how their lifes get swept into a situation they cannot control and how they deal with it to at least keep their own immediate personal worlds from crumbling under the pressure.

The world is beginning to change, but subtly.And so on. So the reader/viewer can always expect new cool things to be revealed and for them impact the world.
