What is the best manga opening you've ever seen? For me, it's Tsumi to Batsu no Spica. What a twist!
>>282064484Shiganbana, too bad it sucks after
>>282064628That manga had a great first chapter and then nothing else lol>"Nooooo you can't kill the actual unrepentant serial rapist who tortured your sister to death! Your sister wouldn't want you to be a killer so let him go with zero consequences!">Proceeds to keep being a killer anyway.
>>282064484Tower Dungeon. It's quick to introduce it's character, world building, the plot and what's to expect. Especially after coming from Nihei's other works.
>>282064484Sanda has a great introduction, pure cinema
>>282064939The worst part it wasn't even a case where he only committed crimes in the past. This man was actively torturing and raping other women and had zero intention of changing. And they fucking let him go for some reason and he's conveniently killed offscreen by mobsters? The people working with him in the operation aren't brought to justice either. What the fuck was this?
>>282065566And this isn't like the worst thing, it goes worse with each chapter. At some point I started to think the first chapter was a fluke or written by someone else
>>282064484Nigger read more manga instead of "Dexter but less soul"
>>282064484Twist is shocking but the arc with a taxi driver is better
Henkyou Gurashi no Maou. It's not so much that it's a seriously amazing opening but it's that the author managed to deliver incredibly powerful emotional notes on the very first chapter. He even manages to live up to it later on for the story's emotional beats which quite rare for an isekai.
>>282064484Hajime Inoryuu is really good at opening chapters. My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought has such a strong and compelling first act. It makes it so frustrating how hard it fell off in the second half because the author had no idea what the mystery was actually leading it. No that is not a conspiracy theory: he himself admitted he had no initial plan in the final volume’s afterword.I think the more episodic structure of Spica will better play into his strengths as a writer but we’ll see.
>>282068500*what the mystery was actually leading toHe’s really good at moment-to-moment storytelling and subverting expectations, but you REALLY need a plan when you’re writing a mystery
>>282068500Wait fuck I stand corrected. That’s not actually what we said lol
>>282065393What kind of school forces boys and girls to share desks?
>>282065393Sanda has the best first chapter of any manga I have ever read.
>>282066985This. I reread the taxi driver arc twice to see if I could find all the hints about his trigger.
>>282064484Well picked it up and FMC is sexo
Eden: it's an endless world has an excellent first chapter/prologue that's half a volume long.
I'm not a Fujimoto fanboy or anything but man the first chapter of Fire Punch was in particular a great opening.
>>282064484Say what you will about everything else in the series, but this is actually a phenomenal opening.
>>282073566autism
>>282075050yeah but the good kind
>>282064484
>>282068500>My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethoughtthis was pure fucking schlock, there was a cheesy cliffhanger plot twist in every fucking chapter, I hate that I actually enjoyed reading it
