Recently rewatched GITS 1995 and it always blows me away and then I forget about it right after. This time I want more so is SAC worth watching?
>>282075713Yes. I will say i had the same exact opinion. The Movie is not memorable but SAC and the two movies Innocence and Solid State Society were amazing masterpieces and proves why Mamoru Oshii is god tier in his works alongside the animation teams. It is way beyond the 1st movie in every respect.
>>282075797Also something I forgot to add the reason why people love GITS 1995 OVA was because it was the 1st ever Animated Film to be done completely digitally. This was when Photoshop came out and helped revolutionize the industry that CG can be good and it also can be apart of a full workflow. It managed to do this 20 years before the whole industry shifted to it. Many studios either stayed full hand drawn, or went CG completely or did both.
>>282075797Cool. I heard the recent Netflix stuff was trash so I was a bit wary about a spinoff like SAC but its decades old enough at this point to be unrelated. I'll check it out.
>>282075713Yeah
>>282075713Now watch the cute girls version.
>>282075797>>282075831Oshii did the two movies, not SAC. Also the movie is not fully digital. Only some special effects are, the rest is traditional cel animation.>>282075713Yes, SAC is better.
>>282076553I do not know. With a few articles I read on GITS the 1st movie, I read that it was revolutionary for it's pioneering of digital drawings for the time it was in. It's why it's like a brilliant tech demo to show far animation had come until that point.
>>282075846Trust me every GITS love's SAC S1-S2, Innocence and SAC those are the classics. The 1st movie just a demo do not consider it the complete experience. It's why nowadays I would recommend people watch SAC S1 then move forward than the 1st movie itself.
>>282075857Cute Girls Version?
OVAs or the anime series?
The movie is better imo, cool ideas, poignant vibe and nice narrative. SAC is way too idea focused and I dropped it 6 episodes in
>>282076776Filtered.
>>282077105Yeah, filtered for actually asking for a good story and not for westoid cerebral science fiction bs
>>282075713depends on what you liked about the film. i thought sac was pretty lackluster.
2045 is actually good
>>282077398>Movie>Good storyDude 1st movie is a tech demo. If you can not see that, you are as blind as a 3rd worlder living in a cave.
>>282075713SAC is less visually spectacular but far more rewarding narratively. I prefer it to be honest. Motoko also has a nice wry sense of humor in SAC.
>>282077562I look for emotional impact and nothing in SAC of 6 episodes I've seen from it has satisfied me as much as the poignant scenes from the movie
>>282077610>emotional impactWoman detected
>>282077633lolseriously tho, i'd read science fiction if i was an ideas guyand gits is one of the few anime where any anon talking about it has a higher than average chance of turning out to be a troon
>>282077610>Emotional ImpactWrong genre, wrong series. Go somewhere else.
>is SAC worth watching?Yes.
>>282077655>TroonCan not say Trans, British poster? Better be careful otherwise you will be reported for Hate Speech. :)
>>282077677>Wrong genrelain, texhnolyze, shinsekai yori are all among my faves>wrong seriesthe movie was good at it
>>282075797Innocence is like, half of a good movie. 1995 is way better.
>>282077707i liked innocence's philosophy
>>282077610Weird. I have basically the complete opposite opinion. I'd call the movie interesting, or thought provoking. But certainly not emotionally impactful. SAC on the other hand is full of honestly tragic stuff.
>>282077772i only watched six episodes but i did like the episode with the guy who had poor health who came back to show his metal body. if more episodes were like that i would have finished it
>>282077793It's not every episode. But there are a lot like that.
>>282077633>>282077677NTA but literally every piece of media ever strives to elicit an emotional response.
I can't imagine someone watching the movies and SAC and not coming to the conclusion that Innocence is SAC but actually good.
>>282077610>emotional impactAnd you got that from the movie that doesn't have action, comedy, drama, suspense or literally anything and it's just emo characters infodumping shit? Yeah, you are retarded. The movie is the dryest shit to come out of anime.
>>282075713SAC is very good. I like it way more than the movie, honestly.
>>282077921Innocence is just boring Oshii-wank - pointless philosophising, gratuitous beagle and all. Did that extended parade sequence add anything but runtime? Unless you're talking about this 2004 movie called Innocence
I like all of GITS (1995, Innocence, SAC, the rest doesn't exist), I don't understand why americans have this mentality of having to choose one and only one thing and the rest is sucks and no you can't like that only what I like.
>>282075713>This time I want more so is SAC worth watching?Yes. Just don't watch SAC:2045
How did you watch it?sac is the best
>>282078198>It added run-timeSays the Anglo who can not understand what Art is, nor can define it.
>>282078844It's because they are lazy. Let's be honest if they were as cultured as the rest of the world they would have watched Dragon Ball, Super, the Broly movie and not just Dragon Ball Z + the older films.
>>282075713Watch SAC and read the manga.Volume 1+2 if you want more cop drama Volume 3 if you want a barely comprehensible mess filled with cg straight out of the ps2 era.(and lots of naked ladies)
>>282075713I love the 1995 movie and started watching SAC not long ago. I was already blown away 3-4 eps in.
>>282078844This. I honestly enjoy the movies and SAC as a whole.
>>282075713If you want to.
