This would have been a great series if it wasn't so fucking retarded.
With my wife, "abyss" has come to mean the type of town that Boy's Abyss takes place in. My wife grew up in exactly the same type of town with a commute train line to the major city and its made me batshit trying to pick where to buy a house. I'd go stir crazy in the abyss, and it's absolutely crazy how hard is to escape. I like how weirdly universal the general framework of Boy's Abyss is. Was saatified with the ending to an extent.
