If you pay attention to this, most were either from Light Novel writers or Visual Novel writers.
It's not the case nowadays because of all the isekai slop, but back in the 2000s LN writers still pushed for deeper/darker themes just like VNs.
You still can find a lot of "romdram" in Visual Novels, try poking around and you'll find something to quench your thirst.
