The games had to be shallow if they were to be resolved in the span of one or two episodes and while that does hurt the effectiveness of big moments and payoffs, I don't think the overextended themselves, the overall story and characters were kept very simple. Sometimes it felt like they expected you to care about them too quickly, but the usual oppressive feel I start to get towards the end of some of these show i.e. "there is no way they can tie all this up in the time they have left" isn't here so that's a plus.
