>>282161059I think that locksmith may be the most interesting character in this manga, he is such an asshold, but he is a sincere asshold so I can't really dislike him.>>282161081Like this bit really shows how he thinks.
>>282161368It really is fucked up how truly inconceivably large the universe is. Speaking as a luddite that sometimes finds my mind wandering that direction, shit's as scary as it is fascinating. Couldn't imagine what it would be like to work in a space related field and working with scales of measure that us monkeys shouldn't even have a clue about
>>282161528Thats interesting
>>282160837Great song.
>>282160883They are already turning schizo!
>>282161528Let's hope that warp technology can work because because working on missions that last year must such so much.
>>282161696That speech sucked
END
now to the vinland saga storytime! if someone wants to do it
>>282161806Through space debris, we are connected.
And that was it spacefriends great manga with a great ending later will post more about the series until than thanks to everyone that read along and to the anon who had my back when i was banneduntil the next story friendos
>>282161806Thanks OP, even though I think that this manga failed in doing what it was trying to do, and that the sequence with the cat at the start was shit, I really liked this manga.Vinland saga is much better.
>>282161302>>282161326>I love him because... idk i just do
>>282161718Its warp technology or nothing honestly. When im bored at work I'll just keep refreshing the news tray on the computer just to maybe find something interesting, and I saw a headline yesterday that said "earthlike planet discovered just 40 light years away" and I could only laugh at the use of the word "just" as if it was even a little bit close. Half a human lifespan for the light from our sun to hit this new world, and the only measuring stick for light that I have is the fact it takes a measly 8 minutes for it to hit us. The only way something from this end of the universe is getting there is either a self sufficient city ship that somehow lasts the untold eons it would take to get there, or warping. Whatever it ends up being (if at all lmao) we'll all be long dead which sucks but it is what it is
>>282161806Thanks OP, this was neat. The Fee plot was a bit weird because the whole time I felt like it might have been caused by her kicking the mine in that prior chapter but that never came up so her whole involvement with it kinda felt wrong, but everything else was pretty stellar.
>>282161107>>282161143I fucking love Locksmith. The world needs guys like him. The world also needs people above him to make sure he doesn't put the rest of us in cages. But we still need him
>>282161806Thanks OP. I always forget how short this story is. I think it tries to do great things, and I'm a huge sucker for space stories, but ultimately it kinda falls flat. Everyone has harped on about how unnecessary Fee's story felt, and I agree. The segments of Hachi and his Jupiter journey are the best parts of the manga, but they don't get very fleshed out. This manga should've largely been about Jupiter once Hachi started training
>>282161944Eh, feels very disjointed between what was delivered and what the supposed message is. The whole dog soapbox arc didn't help. Before that, I was expecting some meaningful lead up to a worthwhile ending, but it ended up being lame and heavy handed
>>282161022love the shading on that middle pannel
>>282162131>a self sufficient city ship that somehow lasts the untold eonsHell, even this wouldn't work. Imagine if, today, a colony ship with light speed capabilities was launched for a target 50 light years away. The crew that was alive by the time the ship made it would have lived their whole lives on the ship. Sure, there may be some 70 and 80 year olds who were in charge when the ship launched, but they'd be out of power by the time they arrived. Can we really expect the new people to stick to the plan derived by humans on a planet they've never been too? And that's just 50 light years away, imagine more.Personally, I think humans are never leaving the Solar System. That's fine, there's a ton of resources in here (I always love the idea of Jupiter mining), but I don't think setting up civilization outside of our Sun is realistic.

>>282161802Yeah, this is a speech to be heard by the entire world, addressed to 3 people.
>>282161944What's the next story, OP-kun?Don't leave us hanging!
>>282161806Thank you!
>>282161696>thx for listening to my blogpost
>>282163288I can't be the only one who hears TES at 3:23>>282161169same vibe. Yukimra has a thing with God and Love.>>282161806Didn't think it'd be this short. Thanks OP.
>>282160775Damn, so short
whats this fags obsession with this juvenile notion of love
>>282165211have you ever loved someone?
>>282165567nope
At least the end didn't make me mad like the anime
>>282161806Thank you for the storytime, OP.
>>282162119Unironically a form of true love, anybody else can't compare.
>>282161944Thx mate.I found it to be too disconnected for my taste. There is no cohesion between what comes next and some ideas weren't fully explored. I enjoyed the art and aesthetic it had. Functional realistic tech is a plus on my book. And the characters themselves were alright overall.Even though I haven't read Vinland Saga it reminds of Level E. A mishmash of ideas that's a prelude to the author's next work.
>>282166326how is the anime ending different?
>>282168543tanabe gets crippled saving the life of a terrorist, he barely knows it happened, he finds her crippled on earth by accident, they reconnect, she recovers, he impregnares her and leaves for seven years and the anime ends
>>282168618what the hellglad i read the manga first, i will not be watching that
>>282162119Many such cases
>>282168797And fee is ugly in the anime.
>>282161877I'm dreading re-reading the awesome early arcs knowing what's to come. It's not even that the latter are that bad, they're just a slog to get through without any payoff at the end
>>282162131>If at allI really really hate Fermi's paradox for being such a strong argument for this. There's just no way intergalactic travel is possible or feasible (no I don't buy "rare earth" and similar explanations, nor that other races wouldn't be expansionist).
OP here againReally enjoyed the series makes me have high hopes for Vinland hope someone storytime it for the series io think Fee arc is very overhated while it doesnt have the best execution it has a nice message, we should had more jupiter and locksmith chapters since they are the most interesting part of the series imo, also the terrorist plot kinda went nowhere it should longer tooFor the next Storytime i dunno yet feel free to leave suggestions i was thinking maybe of Desert Punk but a volume dump this time
>>282169213I don't think Fee's arc is itself bad, it just feels very disconnected from the other (more interesting) arcs
>>282161944Thanks, man. I love this manga, warts and all. Also, I'm glad there are still people who can dump manga without stretching it to infinity.
>>282161806TY OPnow time to rewatch the anime>>282163288My favorite song from Gustav Holst
>>282169213I'll keep suggesting Bokko until it gets storytimed.
>>282168797Watch it. The anime is better with a more cohesive theme told through multiple characters whereas the manga is too disjointed.
>vinland saga storytimeAgain? Well, it's ending soon, so...
>>282172327anon... It ended a few months ago, Vinland failed and they when home
would you have done it bros
>>282161806Thanks OP. Bit of a lame ending, but I enjoyed the highs.>>282162131>>282163216Not necessarily. Time dilation means that people travelling on a ship will experience things quicker than someone stuck on Earth. If someone took a trip at lightspeed to Alpha Centauri it would look like it took them 4 years from our perspective, but to them it would take a month or two, which isn't that different taking a sailing trip to a different continent pre-19th century. The main barrier is of course building something capable of the journey.
>>282169213Desert Punk would be cool. Shame about the author's health and the manga falling off though, but that middle-arc before he gets ill is amazing.
I was expecting this to be much more about the science fiction aspects from the way people talk about it as some epitome of "hard" scifi
>>282174347The discrepancy between how people talk about a piece of fiction and its actual contents can be profound. I've bumped my head on that a lot it in the past. A recurring reminder that the only real option to gauge something is to read it yourself.
>>282174347>the absolute state of hard scifi mangaseriously though, is there anything better?
>>282177312Nope. Not in manga form anyway.
>>282177312Of course there is.
>>282161806Thanks for the dump, OP. Rereading it again reaffirms my belief that the anime adaptation is generally superior, one of the few rare cases too.
>>282177312Pantheon is top tier.
Isn't Jupiter's orbit hazardous because of the radiation belts?
>>282161806Thanks for the dump
>>282181719Callisto is safe and only slightly worse than flying in an airliner.Ganymede is deadly in months but manageable for short trips if shielded.Europa, Io and anything closer kills anyone in a matter of hours.
>>282181719Radiation belts and volcanic space dust, inbetween 2001, a space odyssey, and 2010, the year we made contact, the discovery got all covered in yellow sulphur from the volcanos in io (not enough gravity to bring all the dust back to io's surface)
>>282182174Europa really doesn't want us there.
>>282161806Thanks for dumping.Glad I read it, but I wouldn't read it again and won't be watching the anime. It just wasn't really for me.
>>282161944
>>282183218It's good to find out for yourself.
>>282169213>>282174319Did desert punk finish? I remember really liking it and then it just kind of stopped updating and falling out of memory (for me)
>>282169213Wholly agree regarding Fee's arc. It just got too much "screen time" in relation to the rest
>>282187632I think so. I remember anons talking about it like it was over.
