Saw it in the theater today, and damn, Ufotable cooked. Animation quality was amazing in the previous seasons, but this film is on a whole other level.

I'm going in a few hours.
>>
>>282182720
Going on the afternoon here in hueland.

So many teens are mad for the fact the age rating was bumped all the way to 18+ while all previous theatrical releases were 16+. The rating board must have raised a stink on scenes like Akaza's mangled body and Doma playing with corpses.
>>
>>282182720
I'm wondering why the international release is keeping the movie title condensed with "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle" while Japan went all out with "Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza's Return". The second movie will be called what internationally? Infinity Castle II?
>>
>>282182890
I guess it's done just to keep it short enough. Official movie name here is "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle" while in the movie they are adding "Part 1: Akaza's Return"
>>
No offense but why is this franchise so popular? I tried watching it but quit after a few episodes. It seems to be a standard story and lots of battles. Am I missing something?
>>
>>282182948
It's like a normal battle shonen but for human beings instead of 80 IQ power scalers.
>>
>>282182948

It has a very strong beginning and siblings usually work as main characters very well since there's no "ship" shit constantly. Sadly it turns to worse quite soon and made it unwatchable. pic related
I read it to the end and it was among the worst endings in manga that I have read. Also the whole thing feels very rushed like the mangaka hated it or something
>>
>>282182948
Redditors and youtube essayists seem to be convinced that media needs to be "deep" in order to be popular, but the most popular things are consistently, just simply, good.

Read more than two titles. The last chapter was the perfect conclusion to the manga. The entire manga is built around the Buddhist ideology of "do bad things - go to hell, do good things - receive good things in the next life".

They adapted his fight 1:1, he wasn't "screwed over" by expanding the Kaigaku fight for the sake of it, changing that fight in any way would completely change the theme of it.
>>
>>282183678
Some people aren't happy that Zenitsu's fight is a 1:1 adaptation while Giyu got his dick sucked with an expanded and better showing against Akaza.

Previous Zenitsu scenes in the anime were a little enhanced compared to the manga, specially how Godspeed looks in the anime, so some people got used to preferential treatment to a point where a 1:1 adaptation looks "lacking"

Most boring direction and worst fucking animation in the whole movie. No budget, no effort but every other fight got all the fucking tax evasion money poured into it. Zenitsu doesn't get any other big moment, this was all. They fucked him.
>>
>>282183720
Probably because you can't extend Zenitsu's fight too much, since he is using IAI techniques. But they have added additional scenes to it, in manga he just regroups and finishes Kaigaku, while in the film - he charges for 20-30 seconds with an amazing animation sequence.
>>
>>282183786
It looks good, but as said in >>282183720
It goes exactly as it went in the manga, there's no wow factor in which ufotable tries to make it even better like how went all out with Godspeed before.
>>
>>282183796

Not quite, he still has a little moment by the last stretch against Muzan.
>>

>>
>>282183825
>ufotable tries to make it even better like how went all out with Godspeed before.
Man, Goodspeed wasn't really a long scene, his last attack against Kaigaku is animated much better as I said here >>282183820
>>
>>282183011
It's got a solid moral and emotional core and an adult theme of death that elevates the "people fight"
>>
>>282182948
Demon Slayer is the MCU of shounen. It’s pretty to look at, makes a ton of money, and has just enough emotion to tug at your heartstrings. But it's easily as expendable as it is accessible. It's a one-and-done series you enjoy at the moment but once everything has been said and it's out of the equation, you don't think much about it and move on with your life.
>>
>>282183820
>>282183863
You have an unique point of view regarding what makes the 7th Form enhanced in the movie while Godspeed isn't quite like it. To me is the exact opposite.

Godspeed is infinitely more enhanced in fhe anime, it doesn't even look like the same attack from the manga, it looks much stronger. The 7th Form does get the enhanced charging sequence but the technique has no enhanced speed momentum or damage scale on the level Godspeed had in the anime.
>>
>>282183915
It's still leagues better than Attack on Titan,MHA and Chainsawman.

At least it's consistently entertaining while having a bit of depth.
>>
>>282183935
AOT has a lot more depth though and the premise is way more interesting, it's not even close
>>
>>282183935
>having a bit of depth.
It really doesn't. It's not that deep, it's just another shounen. And whether it's better than Shingeki, CSM or BNHA is another thing, but at least when a story is trash, I feel something even if it's just anger. I felt nothing from Demon Slayer.

Every review I read of this movie so far is that it's beautiful to look at, but shallow to experience with a simple boss rush structure and no real arcs. MC is sidelined, the imouto is absent, side characters take over and cliffhangers unresolved. They also complain that it's marketed as a movie, but is really TV season padding made as a trilogy for money.

Oh and flashbacks killing the pacing. Too many flashbacks. They did say Akaza was the best part, though.

It's not post modernist or modernist at all, the morality of the story is played straight, which is important for capturing an older audience (if you want them). Never does Tanjiro have to make a morally grey decision and he's treated as the ideal, virtuous protagonist like classic stories. The setting being Taisho Japan also helps.

the animation isnt impresive for someone who went to vhs clubs to watch vampire hunter d akira hokuto no ken onisama e midnight goku bublegum crisis cobra. even without the animation the plot of those animes are way more interesting and tried to show how techonlogy was going to be a important element to control in future societies and doenst surrender to nihilism. here in demon slayer i just watch generic stuff like flashback of the enemy after he was killed, so i dont give a fuck, battle with lights and a lot of movement to impress tik tok modern anime audiences, and a generic revenge plot. it isnt bad if you like it, its just 12 temples executed way better with an interesting edo. but i cant say the same with lobotomy kaisen

>>282188099
That narrative falls down when the momentum kept going much after COVID, and just 2 months ago Shueisha updated the series' lifetime manga sales to 220 million, meaning it sold more 70 million copies after 2020 with the numbers then being 150 million.

This movie has already grossed 300 million dollars with Japan and some of Asia theaters only, making it the 4th best box office in Japan currently, with the 1st place being Mugen Train still.

Since the CGI for Infinity Castle required the addition of a new state-of-the-art CPU, the production costs are probably several million dollars higher than Mugen Train.
That said, it’s still just an anime film, so the budget is limited. The highest production cost in Japanese anime history to date is said to be Studio Ghibli’s The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, at around 40 million dollars.

An anon in another thread pointed out that Kimetsu's breathing is basically similar to Jojo's Hamon but I disagree that's it's a straight copy.

The Breathing Styles just enables the Demon Slayers to reach peak human performance but it's still an uphill battle since the Demons are still OP without fighting dirty and taking advantage of the demons' arrogance.

Also, Hamon users could easily beat Muzan and the Demons because they can apply sunlight to anything unlike the Slayer who need Nichirin Blade to fight or they are fucked.

KnY contains countless essences of HxH. The part being adapted in the current movie is, quite literally, the Chimera Ant arc rebuilt in Gotouge’s style.
As for Naruto, the only real essence it has is Demon King Tanjiro’s final technique, which resembled a Tailed Beast Bomb.
I wouldn’t say Gotouge loves HxH the most, but along with JoJo, Bleach, Berserk, and Shigurui, it’s clearly one of the top works that influenced her, and from the looks of it, Naruto doesn’t even make her top ten.

Sorry chief, you need $190M to beat it and from the looks of it, Japan is tapped out. Wanna know how much it earned today? ¥100M. Japan did a lot of carrying with the holiday boosts. And Asia alone can't carry it to $500M without China. LATAM? Will do numbers, but Mexico is what really matters and unless you're Dragon Ball, you won't make $10M. Europe? Only France matters for anime and right now, I hear The Conjuring debuted as #1 today. It's right now at $243.6M. How does it feel that some horror flick in less than a week almost beat a weeb flick in 2 months? America? See you on Sunday. NFL is gonna brutal. The only reason Naruto was mentioned was because it was a big name within Jump, and she was just being considerate toward Shueisha.

Just a few weeks ago, you were loudly claiming this movie would be a huge flop and end up below Mugen Train in worldwide box office. Please explain the current situation, where with only an Asian release it’s already closing in on Mugen Train’s global total.
>>
>The fights are also just a drag. The artificial stakes keeps breaking my immersion and why I can't get into Demon Slayer. We know Nezuko isn't gonna die since she's one of the main characters. And then she gets saved by a new ability from out of nowhere. This story plays everything too safe. No one except Rengoku dies until the final arc. A story with proper stakes would have killed many important characters along the way, not wait until the end of the story where it's the safest time to start killing your darlings.

I agree with most of that anon's criticisms but this one is weird. Berserk only had the Band of Hawk dying until the Eclipse but the story still has proper stakes and tension.
>>

the entire reason the entertainment district arc is so much better than every other arc is that things genuinely look hopeless before a turnaround that is (for once) well established prior

There's also how it also explores Japan's seedier aspects of society in the form of prostitution.

If the author didn't rush it,I'd feel like it would explore more. Maybe elaborate on Doma's cult or maybe imply that Muzan has foreign connections.
>>
>>282189473
Wasnt this the same anon that said Nezuko should have died during swordsmith?
>>
>>282189585
No, that wouldn’t work.

Just think about what would happen if, after the Swordsmith Village arc, they did an “Akaza Revenge” arc, then a “Doma Cult” arc, then a “Kokushibo and the Fate of the Earrings” arc in order, and only after all that wrapped it up with the Muzan arc as the final arc. It would drag on endlessly and become unbearably boring.
>>
>>282189680
Yeah but that would be a very pointless death since it's always been hinted that Nezuko is a special kind of demon that Muzan neglected to find out.

The fast pace of the manga is one of the few good things going for it. It would have been nice if Muzan dropped a few lines about how he spent time outside of the country but mostly kept a low profile in Japan because that was the only known location of the blue spider lily, or something like that, but nothing more.

>300 million in profit? Hollywood kills for those margins, jeremy.
Not really, it's literally beer money for Hollywood. Thunderbolts made $382M and it was considered a flop in Disney's eyes. The Conjuring made $243M in just 6 days, and it's still growing. It's closing in on what Infinity Castle made in 2 months on record time. $300M is nothing to what Hollywood earns on average.

Hollywood don't give a fuck about profit margins alone, they care about scale + franchise sustainability. Disney and Warner would never greenlight a blockbuster that caps at $300M, because they need billion-dollar hits to feed their machine. Anime films succeed because they're cheap to make, but that also proves their global ceiling is low.

So again, $300M is beer money to Hollywood on average.

In reality, this manga isn’t short at all. At 23 volumes, it’s actually longer than Yu Yu Hakusho, and for a popular series it’s about an average length.
Thanks to Wan Piss, everyone’s sense of scale has been warped, but not too long ago even Dragon Ball’s 42 volumes were considered an unbelievably long epic.

The key point is that they killed Rengoku off quickly in the Mugen Train arc, which was still early in the story. That firmly established the image that “this series, like JoJo or HxH, kills off major characters easily,” and it succeeded in giving every battle a sense of tension.

In fact, during the RLD arc, readers were still traumatized from Mugen Train and feared that Uzui or Inosuke might die. If there was any sag in tension, it was only in the Swordsmith Village arc.

The Infinity Castle arc, on the other hand, was filled with tension: Shinobu was killed off early, Giyu nearly died, and Muichiro and Genya were brutally killed. Every fight carried a palpable sense of danger.

The idea that “nobody dies until the very end, so there’s no tension” is only the perspective of someone who already knows the outcome from the start.
>>
>>282182948
The key to a big moneymaking franchise is to have a setting where the good guys all have relatively the same powers with their own personal style. See Jedis, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, Dragonball, etc.
>>
>>282191291
My prediction is that this movie will probably earn more overseas than in Japan.
One reason is that the series’ popularity outside Japan has grown significantly compared to the time of Mugen Train. In fact, even now, its box office revenue in Asia outside Japan has already surpassed Mugen Train.
Another reason is that the value of the yen has dropped sharply compared to five years ago.
>>
>>282191371
People always claim KnY has a high body count and while it does it doesn’t do it in a way that’s axtually interesting or matters. The only character death that really mattered was Rengoku, every other character that died did so during the final arc and most of them during the final battle itself. Who cares about Kanroji or Iguro dying (especially Iguro since he got all his development mid Muzan fight) dying when literally 3 chapters later the manga ended. Lots of manga kill off their cast at the end.

Did anyone here not think Shinobu was dead, when first reading the manga?
The fact that Douma absorbs her, something we've never seen a demon do up to now, really made me believe Kanao was going to cut her out of his body, Little Red Riding Hood style.
I just didn't feel the tension when Shinobu first died because it was only when Douma died and the fight was fully over that I even realized
>Wait, where's Shinobu?
>She's... dead?! Really dead??
I know I can be a bit slow but I can't be the only one who didn't catch that she was *dead* dead when she first died...right?
I kinda just wish Douma violently cannibalized her corpse like a starved maniac

In the final battle, the majority of characters dying is something JoJo does as well.
If someone were to die every single time, it would just become a pattern of “ok, again,” and people would stop feeling anything about character deaths.

Your point might hold if KnY were structured like One Piece or Naruto with dozens of arcs, but in reality there are only four arcs total from Mugen Train. Mugen Train had Rengoku’s death, RLD had Tengen becoming a permanently disabled veteran, Swordsmith Village had everyone survive, and Infinity Castle was a bloodbath. That’s a smart way of dividing up the pattern.
>>

Akame ga Kill is one of the few shonen that actually does it right where KNY fails. It actually commits to killing off the characters as the story goes. AOT started out that way too, but it became apparent over time that our group of heroes were always going to be fine, and the illusion was shattered

You could never count on the main cast having plot armor. When Mein squared off against Esdeath in the Tatsumi rescue mission there was a real chance she'd have bought it right there (and in the anime she actually did)

In KNY, every major character death is reserved for the finale because it's the safest time to kill off your characters and you won't get so much backlash

>>
the fights and animation were top tier, but those flashbacks ruined the entire flow of the movie. i get it that they are meant to build the surroundings and the tension, but that kind of stuff only works in a seasonal type anime, in a movie setting it's disastrous and kills the momentum of the action

Aren’t you under the mistaken impression that killing off characters left and right is what makes a series “ballsy”?
Even in relatively harsh worlds like HxH and SnK, very few main characters actually die, maybe two at most.
KnY and JoJoall pile up deaths in the final arc, and for good reason, it gives credibility to the idea that such sacrifices are necessary to defeat an overwhelmingly strong final boss.
Plus, if main characters kept dying one after another along the way, it would just become repetitive and boring.

You act like KnY is uniquely guilty of “not killing off characters until the final arc,” but you’re ignoring the fact that even other so-called hardcore manga follow the same pattern.

And the fact that the best example you could come up with was something as obscure as Akame ga Kill, a minor Gangan title, only shows how off-base your whole argument really is.

>>
>>282192722
Never said high death count = good. I said KNY's timing makes its deaths safe than risky. Not the same as every story should mow down characters constantly
>HxH
Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio all basically have thick armor. Deaths mostly hit secondary characters
>AOT
Eren, Mikasa, and Armin survive crazy odds, but plenty of major characters like Erwin, Sasha and Bertholdt get axed mid-story

KNY is not in the same league, because aside from Rengoku, most of its character deaths are saved for the finale
>KnY and JoJoall pile up deaths in the final arc
Doesn't excuse the safe middle stretch. If you only do it there, the audience eventually catches on and think "They'd all be fine until the big bad." JJBA at least plays it differently every part sometimes you lose multiple allies along the way (Golden Wind), sometimes barely anyone (Diamond is Unbreakable). KNY is formulaic by comparison
>And the fact that the best example you could come up with was something as obscure as Akame ga Kill, a minor Gangan title, only shows how off-base your whole argument really is.
That's irrelevant because Akame still committed to killing its cast that change the story trajectory. That makes it a legit counterexample whether or not you personally rate it or if its popularity is comparable

Anything longer than that is directly insulting the viewers' time and points toward inept direction/production. That works for original stories designed for the medium, but adaptations are harder. They managed to pull it off really well for Mugen Train, but these final arcs are just too long to be forced into movies. It's the same with HF.
>>
>>282194834
There's also the fact that they're eventually going to chop these movies up and sell them to Netflix and others as episodes and probably have recurring income for decades of streaming-syndication, so there is an extra enticement to fully adapt the manga and keep the manga's pacing (which provides convenient moments to cut episodes on the serialization cliffhangers).
>>
>>282182948
Personally, I think you have to be into the time period to like it. Its the last time Japan was truly great, which I imagine why its so popular in Japan. Fundamentally, the series isnt anything special but the Taisho era has been demonized by the government and American occupation for decades and this show is very pro Japan at a time when Japanese need to be more nationalistic.
>>
oh its a movie?
I thought it was gonna be an episodic arc

Next movie will for sure go to 180 (about 22.5 chapters) and leave 25 chapters for the final movie. They'll probably cut the future epilogue like LotR cut the scouring of the shire, so 24 chapters.

Just finished watching it was fun seeing animeonlies reacting to akaza refusing to die.
Also tanjirou giving up stealth and proclaiming he was going to cut off his head, the entire room went "oh come onnn"

People reacted to pretty much every zenitsu moment.
People giggling with inosuke
When Akaza killed himself a woman went "ooooh he killed himself!".

People around me kept checking their phones all time. Outside that it's fun to go the movies. Lots of normalfags doing cosplay
Also the place was completely full not a single empty seat left

That's a different moment, anon, they extended it to show how Akaza killed the convoy that was after him for killing the dojo guys, right after being blooded by Muzan. Akaza holding the corpse of his beloved is just a fucking still with a fade effect. My fault for expecting better from shonenslop. Fuck everyone who says the anime is the finale experience, the potatoes have SOVL.
>>
The Akaza flashback is an insane pace killer. It hurts the movie even though it's a good story.
>>
>>282196017
It works perfectly for me; you need a breather from that many flashy fights. But yeah, it works better in the manga, you need a slower pace to set that story in animation.
>>
I'm surprised by how full my screening was. I watched subbed too which is probably less popular among casuals.
You guys watching chainsawman next month too? I'm curious to see if it will be packed too. I think l csm isn't as popular among normalfags
>>
>>282196119
More than pacing the fact that it's in its own chapters fixes it. You know implicitly that not even a moment is passing in the "real" timeline. Movies just don't work that way and I don't really see a way around it.
>>
>>282195734
I saw this collage with Kanao in it too before.

It might be the opposite and Demon Slayer makes theaters think there's more demand for all anime than there really is and they have too many showings relative to how many viewers CSM can pull in 2025.
>>
>>282196227
They showed Chainsaw Man Reze Arc's trailer in the screening I went to, both are being distributed by Sony internationally (Aniplex belongs to Sony, and several of CSM ed theme songs were under Sony Music).

CSM might not be as packed yes, CSM is more for a specific fandom.

That's unfortunate, Demon Slayer is about family and if that doesn't resonate with you that may be from a poor upbringing.
>>
>>282196366
it's not about family
it's about DEATH
think about it and you'll know it to be true
and honestly that probably butthurts a lot more surly teenage boys than a theme of family would
>>
Already predicting the random guy going "you guys get stronger by eating people right? Quick, eat me I don't mind, hurry!" and then being told to fuck off scene will get a lot of laughs in theaters. Probably the funniest gag in the entire series.
>>
>>282196366
I get along well with my family and this series isn't deep like the fans make it out to be
It's actually very shallow and surface level, especially the brother-sister bond
>>
I just came back from it, most well behaved audience I’ve ever seen for a movie in my life. Not a single person said a word the entire movie. What a great viewing experience not having to share a theater with screaming children and autistics. Maybe it’s because I live in a smaller midwestern town but people actually treated the movie with the respect it deserves.
>>
>>282196494
It's quite consistent with the sibling tragedy. Its not surface level
>>
>>282196667
Just because there's tragedy doesn't make it not surface level
I'm actually stunned by how in your face this series is and how little subtlety there is

>>282182948
You're missing your inner child. Must suck.
>>
>>282196748
I'm well familiar with the themes because the characters scream out loud what they think and feel
It's really not that deep. Author isn't even trying to be subtle about what they wanna tell you. Which probably also explains why it's popular
>>
>>282196813
The accessibility of it is one of its successes, yet the central themes flew over your head.
>>
>>282196591
It's an anime movie at the end of the day, even if extremely popular it won't attract loud hype beasts that would to a MCU movie or some popular action film; most of the audience will be quiet nerds.
>>
>>282196850
Not really, the central themes are so in your face becauze the author constantly tells you the theme with narration, flashbacks and lengthy speeches instead of trusting subtext
That's also why it's accessible and popular among all ages
>>

Those central themes are?

>>
>>282196937
Family, perseverance, compassion breaking the cycle of hatred, legacy, duty
Typical stuff you'd find in nearly every shounen
They're not hard to get. Story literally spells them out for you in narration, flashbacks, and villain death speeches
That's what I mean by surface-level, they're universal, but delivered with 0 subtlety
>>
Just finished watching it, here's my thoughts

>The sound design is underrated compared to the animation. Not to say the animation was bad by any means, but the almost comically loud parts were the ones that revved my lizard brain the most

>Zenitsu was my favorite fight, because it felt like you could discern individual moves better than in the other ones, even if it was the shortest

>The pacing was indeed an issue, but not to the extent that it ruined the movie for me. I feel like it will age better when it's chopped up into episodes, and if you see it in the theater, you'll have a better time if you think of it like "alright, time to binge a season in one sitting" instead of "alright, time to watch a movie."

>I liked the gentler version of Akaza's theme song that played during his flashback

>Kokushibo tease at the end has me hyped for the next movie, his brief soundtrack was great as well. I've got faith that UM2 and UM1, plus UM1's flashbacks, will have a proper adaptation, and I think it might feel more movielike with the pacing since it's only two fights.

>There were audible reactions in my theater to Douma getting eyepoked, you're too slow, scum, the bear getting heemed, Tanjiro announcing his attack, and the biggest one was to Akaza getting beheaded, which got straight up applause and cheering. There were also reactions to some of the humor bits early on, and to Akaza grabbing his head after getting beheaded, and in general continuing to fight.
>>

>>

>>282196494
I think, except for the chapter 17, Tanjiro and nezuko relationship is undercooked, but I still like him as a character
>>
>>282197021
Oh you missed a few of them. Not sure how with them being so obvious.
>>
>Akaza flashback
>Koyuki's dad says she loves Akaza and asks if he wants to marry her
>she goes red
>women in audience go "awwww"
>>
>>282197049
Now it's obvious she's dead the movie. they did a great job with animating her neck snaps while in Douma's embrace
>>
>>282197021
You copy pasted those from Naruto, I think the biggest theme is the ability to transcend despite our own mortality, and it's contrasted by having immortal demons as enemies. I think it's presented the best during the Koku fight, as we see an immortal demon Slayer VS his successors
>>
>>282197110
How did they feel when it cuts to Doma going "omfg Lord Akaza is dead....lul what's for dinner?"
>>
>>282182720
It didn't feel like a movie at all. It's 8 anime episodes and most of them are budget-saving flashbacks.
>>

>>282197054
Actually that's a pretty good comparison
MCU are visually stunning just like KNY, emotional beats hit hard thanks to the acting and soundtrack just like KNY and both are pretty shallow at the end of the day
If you've Endgame, Ironman's sacrifice is pretty much Rengoku dying
>>
>>282197143

>>
The Akaza flashbacks should have been more evenly spaced out through the movies, opening with his dad's death and joining his master and only having his family's death and demonification at the end.
>>
>>282197233
Nah you can't make him gradually more sympathetic during the fight, the beheading has to feel completely triumphant
>>
>>282197233
This >>282197252 and like what was mentioned above, it works out in the manga since it's allowed room of its own, but on a continuous movie, it will feel like it's blocking the flow. Having the action pause to give a snippet of it throughout the fight will be pretty bad as well.
>>
>>282197132
You just described Naruto's themes in a different outfit
Orochimaru did it, Madara did it, even Kaguya did it
Mortality vs immortality, passing the torch, successors outdoing predecessors is shounen 101. This series really is not as unique or deep as you make it out to be, it's actually very blatant and in your face
>>

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Last Breathing
Tanjiro is called out of retirement with the surviving pillars and his pals to defeat Upper Moon Zero, using special support gear derived from the training dummy to allow him to use a sword again. This is the last mission he goes on before his premature death by natural causes, mimicking his father killing the bear, his son watches him use the sun dance to completion to win. the movie also teases a spinoff of an international demon slayer corps. Gotta milk that horse.

Orochimaru getting off with a slap on the wrist is funny as hell and pretty metal
But point is that this series isn't deep or unique like fans make it out to be. The things it wants to tell was already told a lot of times before
Mortality vs immortality > Orochimaru
Passing the torch > Will of Fire
Successors outdoing predecessors > that's the whole point of Naruto
The author doesn't have a unique voice to say anything that wasn't said before
>>
At least we got a Inosuke flashback.

You are applying the western definition of Heaven and Hell for Akaza's fate, you should take in consideration the fact this series is Japanese and one that follows the Buddhist lens on a lot of things related to karma.

Akaza isn't going to hell just for the things he did as a demon, he is going down because he killed 67 people in cold blood, there's no righteous killing in karma, you took a human life, you are stained period.

I think even the sins committed while being demons and thus under mind control counts as bad karma which makes it a lot more fucked up and unfair

Both heaven and hell are temporary in Buddhism, yes. The goal in said belief is to escape the cycle of reincarnation by becoming enlightened, to become a Buddah and reside in a higher heaven for eternity.

In the gag hell post-endgame chapter several demons are seen in hell, but only Muzan has his hell layer confirmed, it's the Avicy, the lowest layer, meaning he has so much karma he has no chance of reincarnation for untold millions upon millions of years of being tortured/cleansed. Although the chapter ends with it all being a dream by Go-to so maybe it shouldn't be taken literally.
