The 90s Sailor Moon anime tends to be more of a slice of life anime first and an action series second, unless its a plot focused episode. Battles only last for like 2, sometimes even only one minute usually
>>282221957All Sailor Moon episodes are plot focused.
This isn't a hot take.
Chibi Usa is the hottest.
they are all children
>>282222211W, screw diddybluds watching this for goofy ahh gooning only girls are allowed watch this
>>282221957just like most tokusatsu
>>282221957>hot takesGet rangebanned zoomer tourist dumbfuck
>>282222211>>282222104I know she's 5, yes.
>>282222104>>282222507Chibipedo dub lover /pol/fag, is that (You?)
>>282221957Given the current definition of hot take, this take is as cold as it gets. Everyone knows they took the manga and adapted it into a hybrid SoL show. But I'm also going to use this opportunity to complain(not directed at you OP, it's not your fault in particular really) that people took away a useful phrase, the original meaning of 'hot take' and it's annoying that we lost it linguistically. The actual previous definition was not a synonym for 'controversial take/take that most people will disagree with'. t was something more akin to an off the cuff, unresearched, take that you acknowledge might be wrong but is something worth discussing anyway. It was a useful phrase. The internet has just been butchering language to such an extreme degree. Language evolves, but not always in a good way.
Sailor Moon ruined the magical girl genre. It would have been much better off if Sailor Moon had never existed.
Sex with Amarathat's my take, as hot or cold as it needs to be
>>282222392even stuff like Power Rangers are more action oriented than a good amount of episodes of the 90s Sailor Moon anime
>>282223061What, do you imagine, the magical girl genre would have been without sailor moon and why?
>>282223061So endless iterations of Sally the Witch style helping the community with magic instead of pretty girl sentai battle anime? I would be fine with that.
>>282221957You don't know what a hot take is
>>282223061>Sailor Moon ruined the magical girl genre. It would have been much better off if Sailor Moon had never existed.This. The 90’s anime influenced the creation of Precure, while the manga of SM influenced the likes of Madoka. So we have the entire Sailor Moon franchise to thank for the current state of the Magical Girl genre being cordoned off into two equally shit divisions: One for yuritroon incel Ojisans, and the other essentially being nothing but a toy commercial for toddlers. yet somehow also invaded by the yuritroons, because the very premise of Precure also took influence from Naoko’s next yuritroon series PQ AngelsMeanwhile the original audience composed of teen girls and fujos have been pushed out.
>>282223299>Meanwhile the original audience composed of teen girls and fujos have been pushed out.I feel bad for the teen girls, less so the gooners
>>282223061>>282223299Why do you keep engaging these dogshit bait threads made by underage morons instead of letting them die? Are you retarded?
>>282223230>What, do you imagine, the magical girl genre would have been without sailor moon and why?Like CCS and constant CLAMP kino. As for why? Well they were the second most popular Mahou Shoujo series of that time after Sailor Moon (still the most popular throughout Asia though)
>>282221957Why isn't it a hot take that I find Sailor Moon more of a slice of life show in many of the episodes?
>>282221957Hot take: The 90’s anime is more female oriented, while the manga is more male oriented.
>>282223299Magical girls were always for little girls. They buy the merchandise and merchandise has been vital for a magical girl's survival since Minky Momo. It's just that Japanese kids shows can get away with a lot of things, especially before the 00s
>>282221957the manga deconstructed the genre before Madoka did.
>>282223727all i know of madoka is from magoka posting...
>>282223727Madoka didn't deconstruct shit. It's otaku schlock
I've only seen a small amount of sailor moon due to catching stray episodes in the morning as a kid and random episodes as an adult. Tell me is it actually worth starting from the 1992 series?
>>282223727Madoka is basically just copying the more depressing parts of previous magical girl shows and making that the whole focus. The character dynamics are similar to Nanoha and Pretty Sammy had excessively dark shit for the genre in the novels long before. Misao fucking dies and that's the end. We had post-Evangelion style shows of the type before Madoka too like Alien Nine. Not technically MAGICAL girls but it's adjacent to the genre.
>>282224188NO. FUCK OFF. WE ARE FULL. WE DON'T NEED MORE CASUAL TOURISTS. PISS OFF
>>282224188>is it actually worth starting the 1992 series? Not if you’re over the age of 5 no.
>>282221957this shit for girls
>>282224864>this shit for girlsLITTLE girls, there’s a difference.
>>282221957Did any of the anime that Toonami air aim older than Sailor Moon?
>>282224188Yeah go on.Also it will be your starting and your ending point, there isn't really much more to SM that's worth getting into.
>>282223610>Magical girls were always for little girls.Studio Pierrot’s Magical Girls were for dirty old men.
>>282225332Tokyo Mew Mew is a Studio Pierrot magical girl anime and that was for little girls
>>282224188Honestly, it's a good series, but it's not as good as the hype and legacy it has. It's great towards the start of each episode when its comedic and lighthearted, and the senshi have a good dynamic amongst each other, but the monster of the week battles are very stale and severely outclassed by shows like precure. The dark elements, when present, are pretty good but are better in the manga. It leads to a lot of episodes starting out fun and slowly getting boring and generic. It's a good idea to at least watch a few episodes if you haven't seen it though because it's referenced everywhere in other anime.>>282223299>the other essentially being nothing but a toy commercial for toddlers.I have bad news for you regarding 99% of magical girl anime prior to Sailor Moon.
>>282224188Yes, if you use an essential episode list to skip the monster of the week filler.
>>282225781>an essential episode listWe don't do that zoomer shit here.
>>282225372>Tokyo Mew Mew is a Studio Pierrot magical girl anime and that was for little girlsIt was actually for teen girls, it was a shoujo manga adaptation from Nakayoshi.
