I've spend most of my youth watching shonen and pretentious "deep" anime like Evangelion and Death Note. I also liked a few magical girl and fantasy shows but I'm now burned out in most of those genres and newer examples of those don't appeal to me. However I've been finding a recent enjoyment of Iyashikei, this variant of drama-less slice of life that I ignored for many years is now giving me hours of entertainment and it's the genre I'm looking for the most every season now. I lime they way its being done today or likely it's me who has changed into someone able to enjoy the soothing healing effect of these kind of shows.

>>282230329I think it's partly the density of good anime, not just the number As it's gotten easier and cheaper and more profitable to make anime, the barrier for how good something has to be in order to be made has dropped significantly as people are clammering for a story to adapt So there's a lot more anime coming out, but most of the increase has been slop so it's harder to find the good stuff in the pile
