So I know I'm way late to the party but I just finished Houseki No Kuni/Land of the Lustrous and damn, that was good stuff. I peeked at the manga and it looks like the anime was already making pretty big changes and then it looks like it goes nutso the further you go - is it worth reading it? Are the manga's themes different form the show's (which is mostly about Phos trying to change himself but losing who he was in the process)? Is there hope for a season 2?Phos thread.
The anime is very faithful to the manga outside of the very end where they try and do some sort of wrap up.

The question of "if he fully replaces who he is with someone else, is he even him anymore" was nice to explore in such a visually gorgeous series. If Buddha came up with that question then that is cool and all but it doesn't really have any bearing on my enjoyment of the show.

Yes you should finish it. This manga is a master piece, though it will feel a bit off because how long it ran. Also I miss gem threads.
