I've become able to tell after becoming a wizard and in a way it's a terrible curse. Scenaristic and animation errors, narrative weaknesses, failures of characterization, cinematography, timing, pacing, editing, storyboarding, sound design, themes and metaphors, comparisons to contemporary works. All of these details jump into my face unprompted. It's not comfortable.I truly had no tastes when i was 20 but i did collect excellent anime, and a couple of doozies, by trusting /a/'s tastes even if a vague sense of enjoyment was all i could garner at the time.Thank you /a/ for all the anime & manga.

It's not that good. nuruto...yikes, it's not good either. Even if it's better than cape. That is why battle shonen is considered the bottom genre, as a general rule. What makes a good anime, then? It depends, the answer varies, the short answer is, anything that isn't One Piece.
