I haven't kept up with Shonen Jump and just popped in for this one chapter, is this what the average series is like these days? It feels like it's stumbling over itself trying to have the next interesting things happen

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, I was just surprised by how quick things seem to be going, like the author is trying to rush through to avoid or finish before the axe, and figured it would be quicker to ask anons who are keeping up

I would still suggest reading it for yourself to get a better understanding of it, it's been a lot of fun so far. This recent match has been the longest so far, so it's not a great place to jump in right at the conclusion of it. My favourite chapters so far were probably chapter 3 and chapter 6, personally. As for how quick it's going, you're right that it's pretty fast, but a lot of Jump series are nowadays - they have to get into the action quick or readers get bored and drop off immediately. It also means they can end an arc quickly and pivot if people aren't reacting positively, so they can adjust to avoid the axe (it usually doesn't work regardless).

Cool dialogue aside, im not a fan of the ending of the match. Didnt surpass my expectation like it always did. I was curious what was going to be the gimmick of the match after they smashed the table but they ended up playing awkward ping pong.

As enjoyable a time I'm having, we really are just bouncing from one match to the next with zero downtime. It feels like the author is trying to give a sales pitch as to why he should be allowed to keep going by doing some rapid fire variety of the ping pong. Hopefully once things are more stable the story can happen at a normal pace
